Is Meghan Markle’s Mom Doria Ragland Moving to London?
For months people have been speculating about whether Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, is going to move to London to be closer to her daughter, and now we may have our answer.
The speculation first started when Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement back in November 2017. Then things hit a fever pitch just before the royal wedding when Ragland quit her job as a social worker at the Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services clinic.
“Doria is no longer working at the mental health clinic in the Los Angeles area. It was Doria’s decision to leave,” a source revealed at the time.
However, the insider went on to say that the reason she left was because she wanted to focus on opening her own practice. “She has talked about starting her own private practice, focusing on working with elderly patients.”
But months later, reports surfaced that Ragland hadn’t been in the states for quite some time and was actually staying with her daughter and son-in-law at the royal couple’s Oxfordshire cottage over the summer. Of course, the question on everyone’s mind now is: Was her extended stay just to spend time with Markle or was it also made in preparation for her move across the pond?
Here’s what we know.
According to The Express, the answer is yes, Ragland will be moving abroad. The publication quotes friends of the duchess’ mother who said that the move will happen sooner rather than later.
“She is getting ready to move to London. I think she will be going as soon as possible. I know that she was eager to live closer to her daughter,” one of Ragland’s close pals explained. “I think this has been coming for a while. Even before the wedding, she told me how she misses her Megs so much she would do anything to be closer to her, especially now Meghan will be starting a family of her own.”
Another person who lives in the same Windsor Hills neighborhood where Ragland’s residence is agreed that Markle’s mother will be permanently relocating to be near her daughter who she’s very tight with.
“Doria and Meghan have always been inseparable. Doria is beside herself with excitement at the thought of moving to London,” the neighbor said. “I’d bet Meghan is just as thrilled at the thought of having her mom close, especially when she and Harry have children. Doria is going to be an absolutely amazing grandma.”
In September 2018, Ragland arrived alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Kensington Palace to celebrate the launch of Together: Our Community Cookbook, which Markle helped create. The book consists of 50 recipes from a group of women who began cooking together after they were affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.
At the affair, Ragland introduced herself to guests as “Meg’s Mom.”
