Is Prince Andrew Still Planning on Walking Princess Beatrice Down the Aisle?

Prince Andrew has been largely staying out of the limelight recently. Since his involvement with the late Jeffrey Epstein has become a topic of conversation, Andrew stepped down from his royal duties. But there is one job that Andrew can’t take a break from, and that’s his obligations as a father.

Shortly before the whole Epstein drama began unfolding, Andrew’s daughter, Princess Beatrice, announced that she was getting married. At the time, Andrew was expected to walk his oldest daughter down the aisle. But now that he is living mostly out of the public eye, people have been wondering if that is still the case.

Princess Beatrice’s engagement announcement

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, announced their daughter’s engagement through the royal family’s Instagram account.

“The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi,” the announcement read.

“Her Royal Highness and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi became engaged in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020.”

Beatrice and Mozzi also added a little note to the announcement.

“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement,” they said in the post. “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.”

Prince Andrew steps down

Just a few months after the engagement, Andrew made another announcement. But this one was much more somber.

“It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support,” he wrote in a letter shown on the royal family’s Instagram.

“Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission. I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein. His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathize with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure. I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigation, if required.”

Will Prince Andrew still walk Princess Beatrice down the aisle?

The fallout from the scandal has definitely overshadowed Princess Beatrice’s engagement, which has caused friends and family of the newly engaged couple to worry.

“Everyone right now is concerned about Bea,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “Poor Bea. She deserves to have the wedding she wants and the public is going to go nuts [because of her father].”

Though Andrew is not participating in any public engagements, he will still be walking Beatrice down the aisle.

“They love him; he’s family,” the source continued, noting that the royal family is still “very disappointed” in his behavior. The source said that Andrew is still “utterly devoted’ to his daughters.

Princess Beatrice, however, has yet to even set a wedding date for her impending nuptials. So, even though her father is still participating in her wedding, it’s clear that the princess is not exactly in a celebratory mood just yet.
