Is Prince William Secretly Relieved That Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are Skipping Christmas with Queen Elizabeth?
Let’s face it, Christmas will not be the same now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are spending the holiday away from Prince William, Kate Middleton, Queen Elizabeth, and the rest of the royal family. While everyone else is gathering with Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham, Harry and Meghan will be celebrating Christmas with her mother, Doria Ragland, in California. A lot has been made of the apparent Christmas snub, but is Prince William secretly happy that Harry and Meghan are skipping Christmas with the Queen?
How does Prince William feel about Prince Harry skipping Christmas?
This week, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan will not be spending Christmas with Her Majesty at Sandringham. The statement did not reveal any details about their trip to America, but it did say that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending the holiday with her mother.
Prince William has not said anything about Harry’s Christmas plans, though an inside source claims that he is going to miss his younger brother. That said, the source noted that William is relieved that Harry is getting a break from the royal spotlight and believes the two need to spend some quality time alone.
“William and [his wife] Kate [Middleton] are somewhat relieved that they won’t be at Sandringham,” the source explained. “Prince William does, however, feel that it’ll be strange not having his brother around.”
According to Fox News, this is only the second time Harry has missed Christmas at Sandringham. The first time he missed out on the festivities was when he was deployed in Afghanistan.
When Harry and Meghan were still dating, they both were invited to Sandringham for Christmas. This was an unusual move as people usually do not get invited to spend Christmas with Her Majesty until they are officially part of the family.
How does Prince Harry feel about his holiday departure?
While Prince William is reportedly relieved that Prince Harry and Meghan are spending Christmas away from the royal family, the same could be said of the Sussexes.
The source noted that Meghan is super excited about spending time with her mom and cannot wait to have a break from her royal duties. The former actress is very close to her mother, who attended her 2018 wedding and was there for the birth of her first child, Archie Harrison.
Although they kind of get a break at Sandringham, being with the rest of the royals and worrying about the Christmas Day events can be a bit nerve-wracking.
“Sandringham is always fun, but it can also be quite stressful and very formal,” the insider stated. “This Christmas will be low-key and informal.”
The source added that Meghan and Harry both need a good reboot after all the drama they have faced in recent weeks. The couple, along with their baby boy, Archie Harrison, is expected to remain in the United States through Christmas, which should give them ample time to recharge.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle open up about their struggles
A few weeks back, Harry and Meghan openly discussed their struggles since tying the knot in a shocking documentary, titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.
While Prince Harry pretty much confirmed that his relationship with Prince William is on edge, Meghan admitted that she has found it difficult adjusting to the royal life.
The former actress revealed that the negative reports about her in the media have made life unbearable behind the scenes. With that in mind, her trip to the United States could not have come at a better time.
In light of the revelations, insiders claim that William is very worried about Harry and Meghan, who are rumored to be thinking about relocating outside of the United Kingdom.
Prince William and Prince Harry have not addressed these rumors, and we can only hope that they sort things out during the holiday break.
What about Kate Middleton?
While Prince William and Prince Harry deal with their apparent feud, sources insist that Kate is staying out of it.
An insider recently revealed that Kate is focusing on raising her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all of whom are keeping her plenty busy.
The Duchess of Cambridge is looking to avoid the drama with the hope that things will work out in the end.
Although things could be going better between Prince William and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex did say that he still loves his brother in the interview. He also stated that they will always be there for each other, which is a promising sign that things will be okay.
