Is Queen Elizabeth Slowing Down in Her Old Age?

Most people can’t wait until they are old enough to retire. They dream of trading in their busy schedules for a more relaxed, slower-paced lifestyle. Queen Elizabeth is so busy that we often tend to forget what her exact age really is.

Many people her age wouldn’t dream of waking up every day and conducting business, however, that is just what her majesty does on a regular basis.

She not only has her royal duties to attend to, but she has been busy with family obligations as well. In the past year or so, we have seen the queen attending the high-profile weddings of her grandson, Prince Harry to Meghan Markle, and her granddaughter, Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank.

In past years, Queen Elizabeth has attended the christenings of two of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children.

It seemed that the queen never missed an event, so when she wasn’t able to be at the christening of her newest great-grandson, Archie Harrison, it raised a significant question. Is Queen Elizabeth slowing down in her old age?

Are the queen’s obligations becoming too much for her to handle?

At the age of 93, Queen Elizabeth keeps up a schedule that even people who are decades younger would find overwhelming. So, why wasn’t she at Archie’s christening?

Fans can rest assured that although the queen wasn’t in attendance, it wasn’t because she felt that she needed to stay home. According to People, she was not there simply because she was busy with other obligations.

Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning monarch

On September 9, 2015, Queen Elizabeth had the honor of becoming the longest-reigning monarch in England’s history. She has been on the throne for an astonishing 67 years and, as a result, has celebrated a Sapphire Jubilee, something that no other king or queen in Britain’s history has done before.

In fact, her majesty has surpassed many other monarchs with her long reign, according to Express. She has been the ruling monarch of Great Britain longer than Queen Victoria, King Henry III, and King Edward III, among others.

Prince Philip already retired from royal duties

Prince Philip, the queen’s husband, is 98 years old and retired from royal duties two years ago, according to the BBC.

Although his wife has a jam-packed schedule, the prince decided that it was in his best interest to slow down a bit after many years of lending his support to the queen.

How many engagements does the queen carry out?

Most people work approximately 22 days per month at their jobs. In June, the queen did nearly double this, as Royalcentral reports that she carried out 40 engagements during the month.

That is quite impressive for anyone, and Queen Elizabeth did it with ease. In 2019 alone, only three members of the family have been busier, and those family members are Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew.

Many royal fans may be surprised to learn that the queen’s workload in June was nearly as much as Prince William and Kate Middleton combined. How wonderful that her majesty is such a devoted and hard worker.

Is Queen Elizabeth slowing down in her old age?

Absolutely not! Her majesty is going strong, as shows no signs of slowing down. We are happy that she is able to carry out her royal duties as she always has, and that we get to see her smiling face at so many events and engagements.

It is wonderful to see Queen Elizabeth still being as active as ever, and we look forward to every time we will see her in the future.
