Is Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’ renewed for a fifth season?

Good news, Queer Eye fans. Earlier this year, Netflix announced that their structured reality series would return for its fourth and fifth season. The fourth season already premiered on the streaming platform, earning praise from fans and critics alike.

Although there is no official premiere date for the upcoming fifth season, some fans are already excited for more content featuring Jonathan Van Ness, Bobby Berk, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, and Karamo Brown. This season will be unique, however, because of the new city that the Fab Five visit.

Where does season five of ‘Queer Eye’ take place?

For the first time since the show’s creation, the Fab Five will be heading to Philadelphia to shoot a few episodes of Queer Eye. In the past, the experts gave makeovers to local heroes surrounding Atlanta, Georgia and Kansas City, Missouri. They even made a stop at Jonathan Van Ness’ high school, awarding a makeover to one of his former teachers.

“We shoot a lot; I’m shooting now in Philadelphia,” Jonathan Van Ness said during an interview with Deadline. “I’ve been shooting several months out of the year for the last two years. When I’m shooting, our stories have to be fluid, because it’s like real life, so I kind of fly by the seat of my pants. The [Fab Five] and our team is really about creating this gorgeous experience for our heroes, so we’re really trying to get to know them and figure out how we can be of service.”

“That is like a full-time job when we’re doing it, but my most accurate way to describe what my life feels like now is, I do feel like I’m like Christina Aguilera,” Van Ness continued. “I’m usually in the back of a car; I don’t drive around so much in New York. I’m shooting this, I’m working on my book, I’m doing an interview. It’s a wild ride, but it’s so rewarding, and a surprising second act for me.”

When will the next season of Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’ premiere?

Unfortunately, there is no premiere date for the fifth season of Netflix’s original series. However, fans will most likely see the Fab Five at this year’s Emmy Award ceremony, where Queer Eye earned nominations in multiple categories.

Presumably, the next piece of Fab Five content to be released is the Netflix special, entitled Queer Eye: We’re in Japan, where the squad takes their empowering and inspirational message overseas. Aside from their work with the reality series, the members of the Fab Five are currently embarking on individual adventures, some even publishing books.

Queer Eye: We’re in Japan premieres later in 2019. Until then, episodes of Queer Eye are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
