What is ‘Shrill’ about?

The series is based on Lindy West’s memoir, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman. It premiered in March 2019 with six episodes, with an eight-episode season following in January 2020.

What happens in the second season of ‘Shrill’?

Season two of Shrill begins with a newly unemployed Annie, who is eager to start her career as a freelance writer. At this point, Annie has a newfound confidence and a blossoming relationship with her boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones), but by the end of the season, she comes to a few realizations. One is that she needs her old job back. Annie also comes to understand that Ryan will never be able to provide her with what she needs, despite his valiant efforts. Annie also comes to terms with needing to tame her confidence without losing it altogether.

Will ‘Shrill’ return for a third season?

Fans are wondering if there will be a third season of Shrill, but Hulu has yet to officially announce if the show has been renewed. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bryant says she would “love to do a third season.” She goes on to explain how she and her team of writers have a number of ideas that could play on what has happened in the first two seasons of the show.

What to expect if there is a ‘Shrill’ season 3

Bryant says she has plenty of ideas for the third season of Shrill. Despite Annie overcoming her insecurities, Bryant can think of plenty of opportunities for them to “…rear their ugly head” in another season.

Another hot topic Bryant wants to touch upon in a new season is that of body issues. In the most recent season of the show, Annie experiences “chub rub.” Bryant wants to expand upon “…the daily indignities of living with a body that sometimes betrays you or that other people have feelings about and having to suffer those.”

What’s next for Aidy Bryant

Bryant hopes that there is another season of Shrill in her future, calling it “…the greatest joy of [her] life.” Regardless of whether or not there is a third season of the show, Bryant said in that same interview that she’ll continue to work on Saturday Night Live until she has the “‘…gut feeling of ‘Now’s the time'” to stop doing so.

Bryant isn’t just an actor. She continues to be creative in other outlets as well. She started her own clothing line, Pauline, naming it after her great-aunt. Her line features clothing items that cater to plus-sized women sizes 12 to 26. Many of the looks featured in the Pauline collection are inspired by clothing that her character, Annie, would wear in Shrill.
