Is Teresa Giudice Lobbying Bravo for a Spinoff?

Teresa Giudice, the only original housewife left on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is jockeying for her own show – and it just might happen. The 46-year-old mother of four is perhaps the most polarizing of all the housewives. While some fans love her brash style and snappy comebacks, others find Teresa to be overdramatic and her very own worst enemy. Either way, fans of Bravo’s hit show have tuned in for nearly a decade to watch Teresa battle it out with every nemesis the network has thrown at her – even her own family. So, is a spinoff so far off base?

Teresa allegedly pitched the idea of filming in Italy

Back in July 2018 rumors swirled that Giudice was trying to talk Bravo’s executives into considering filming a spinoff show in Italy. According to Ok! Magazine, Teresa was once interested in moving to the boot-shaped country and allowing Bravo cameras to follow the family as they assimilated into a foreign culture. While both Teresa and Joe Giudice are of Italian descent and Joe was born in Italy, neither has a direct connection with the nation.

Teresa’s bid for an Italian spinoff may have been a last-ditch effort to keep the family together. Joe Giudice, 46 is facing a deportation order that would ensure he can never step foot in the United States again. Teresa initially told Andy Cohen that she would move if it came down to it, but in recent weeks she has changed her tune, alleging that if Joe does end up being sent back to Italy, she won’t be packing up her Prada to follow him.

A single mom spinoff could be in the works

While early reports suggest Teresa was trying to pitch the idea of an Italian spin-off show, she has since switched gears. According to Radar, Giudice is now ready to live life as a single woman and has been pitching the idea of a show that would follow her as she acclimates to life on her own. The show would also follow her four children. Gia, now 18 is ready to head to college, while Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana are still in the house. Audriana’s birth was documented on Real Housewives of New Jersey.

According to inside sources, Teresa is hoping a nice payday from a new reality show would make the split easier. While both Teresa and Joe have had money troubles in the past, as a couple, Teresa is significantly out-earning her once breadwinner husband. A hefty payday would allow her to split from her husband more easily.

Will Bravo actually give the reality star her own show?

Bravo has not commented on whether Giudice will be featured in her own show or not. In fact, they have neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. What we do know, however, is that Giudice is generally unhappy with her role on RHONJ, but won’t leave due to the paycheck.

After serving 11 months in prison for fraud charges, Giudice isn’t ready to let go over her income stream.  Her husband, Joe Giudice, was slapped with a 41-month sentence and is now in danger of being deported thanks to the same financial mishaps. The pair have been married for nearly 20 years.

Sources close to the situation suggest that a spinoff could happen. After all, The Real Housewives of New Jersey doesn’t have the same cache as other franchises, consider its revolving door of characters. As the only original cast member, fans remain invested in Giudice’s story so a spinoff could be the perfect way to say goodbye to RHONJ while keeping Giudice in the spotlight.
