Is This Proof That Hailey Baldwin Is Ready to Move on From All the Selena Gomez Drama?
Hailey Baldwin is a noted model and the wife of singer Justin Bieber. She has managed to keep a relatively low profile in years past, staying well away from drama and negativity.
That is, until October 2019, when Selena Gomez’s new song ignited a media firestorm. Still, Baldwin recently opened up in a candid interview, revealing her true feelings about the drama and what her goals are for 2020.
Keep reading to learn about the drama between Baldwin and Gomez, including how it all started and what Bieber says about it these days.
How did the drama between Selena Gomez and Hailey Baldwin start?
Bieber’s first serious romantic relationship was with Gomez, the Disney star with a big voice and even bigger social media following. Bieber and Gomez dated for years and many fans thought that they would be together forever.
Still, in early 2018, Bieber and Gomez had broken things off and Bieber had rekindled an early romance with Baldwin. Things moved quickly between the young couple and in September 2018, Bieber and Baldwin had tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony.
Many of Bieber’s fans were angry with Baldwin, perceiving that she broke up Bieber and Gomez, prompting Bieber to speak out publicly and defend his new wife. In the months following their marriage, things died down a bit. Baldwin officially changed her name to Hailey Bieber.
Then, in October 2019, Gomez released a new song and the drama picked right back up again.
Selena Gomez’s new song was controversial
Gomez’s new song “Lose You to Love Me” dropped in October and immediately, social media went crazy. The song, which features lyrics such as “In two months, you replaced us, like it was easy, made me think I deserved it” was clearly about Gomez’s relationship with Justin Bieber.
Only hours after the song dropped, Baldwin posted a screenshot of a song called “I’ll Kill You” to her Instagram stories, which many saw as a shot at Gomez. Bieber also posted a shady photograph to social media in the wake of Gomez’s new song, a dour image of a cheetah stained with blood.
Baldwin spoke out publicly and said that the screenshot she posted was not intended as shade towards Gomez, calling the chatter “BS.” Fans on both sides of the aisle started attacking both Gomez and Bieber, ultimately prompting Gomez to post to social media once again, calling upon her fans to stop “tearing women down.”
Hailey Bieber is over the ‘toxicity’ of social media
Baldwin has been silent during the past month regarding the Gomez situation. However, in a recent Vogue profile, she opened up about the experience, detailing how she believes that social media, in general, is a “breeding ground for toxicity” and “trying to put women up against each other.”
While she didn’t specifically reference the drama with Gomez, the model claimed that she intends to do her part to end the drama that gets perpetrated on social media. Baldwin stated: “I think there needs to be more people with platforms coming together and saying to each other, ‘let’s kill the conversation, let’s kill the fake drama, let’s squash all these things, let’s move on from stuff.”
That intention ties into Baldwin’s goal for 2020, which is to “get involved in things that make a difference.” There’s no doubt that she’s learned from all of her experiences this year and that she will be going into the new year a wiser and more enlightened individual than she might have been before.
