Is Zendaya Good Friends With Her “Euphoria” Cast Mate Storm Reid?
Being two of the most sought after young Hollywood stars, Zendaya and Storm Reid have a lot more in common than many would assume.
With a majority of their time recently spent acting alongside each other for their new HBO series Euphoria, the actresses have developed such a close bond, that we can see why they consider each other “long-lost sisters.”
It was only a matter of time before Zendaya and Storm Reid became close friends and it looks like their relationship just keeps getting stronger every day.
Storm cherishes the relationship she has with Zendaya
Zendaya and Storm Reid have found major success in the industry over the years and for the first time, these two powerhouses are coming together to star in the new HBO series Euphoria.
The series follows “a group of high school students as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.”
Zendaya plays the main character Rue, a 17-year-old recovering drug addict trying to find ways to navigate through life as she tries to find her purpose.
Storm Reid plays Rue’s 13-year-old sister, Gia, who has her own struggles and is trying to figure herself out as a preteen.
With Euphoria centered around drug use, profanity, and sex, this was the first time Zendaya and Storm Reid have been part of a project such as this one.
Since they both come from Disney backgrounds, Zendaya and Storm leaned on each other during this project and that alone brought them closer together.
Reid, who starred in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time back in 2018, took as much as she could from Zendaya and looked up to her not only as an actress but as someone who she’s heavily influenced by.
“I’ve always looked up to her … she’s gone through all the experiences that I’m going through now,” Reid told The Hollywood Reporter. “I can talk to her about the industry thing or just talk to her about being like a regular teenager growing up here in L.A. is really special, so I’m glad I have that.”
Along with Zendaya helping her on-screen sister with her career as an actress, Storm Reid also revealed that the actress has become more than just a friend to her throughout their journey as co-stars.
“Just to stay humble and she is just a great representation of that. Just to be able to have her in my corner and get advice from her when I needed it, having her as just a big sister is something that means the world to me,” the actress shared with PEOPLE.
They are each other’s biggest fan
Though this is the very first-time Zendaya and Storm Reid are working together, they’ve had a deep respect for each other for a while now.
It all started when Storm was cast as Meg Murry in A Wrinkle in Time and Zendaya, made it known that Storm could very much be her “long lost sister.”
In February 2018, Ava DuVernay tweeted out, “Help me lift up these young queens,” along with photos of A Wrinkle In Time stars Rowan Blanchard and Storm Reid from their Seventeen magazine cover shoot.
“They do layered, beautiful work in @WrinkleinTime,” Ava continued. “Their characters focus on female friendship. What the world tries to impose on us. And what we really can be. Love to @StormReid and @RowanBlanchard. xo.”
Shortly after sharing the tweet, Zendaya replied, “This is awesome, two bright beautiful lights,” Zendaya wrote, “(side note, Storm may be my long lost little sister).”
Storm Reid has even said that she’s been a fan of Zendaya for years and recently shared proof of that on Instagram.
On June 12, the actress shared a video of herself in the middle of an interview back when she was a young girl.
Reid was asked who was an actress she looked up to and without hesitation said, “Zendaya Coleman.”
So as you can see, Storm Reid and Zendaya were always destined to be good friends and by the looks of things, these two actresses will most likely remain in each other’s lives for many years to come.
