These Jack Damon Theories From ‘This Is Us’ Prove There Are More Mysteries Ahead

Once again, the This Is Us crew proved they are the reigning champions of television twists. When the season 4 premiere debuted on Sept. 24, fans were introduced to a variety of new — seemingly unrelated — characters. But, by the end of the episode — titled “Strangers” — fans fell in love, as the connections to the Pearson family were unveiled in the final act. And while viewers expressed their excitement over Jennifer Morrison and Asante Blackk in the upcoming season, fans were blown away by Blake Stadnik, who plays Jack Damon in This Is Us Season 4.

In the premiere, Stadnik’s character was introduced as a blind — and unnamed — musician. He meets a waitress named Lucy (Auden Thornton) and they quickly fall in love. After an unknown amount of time passes, they get engaged. Lucy then reveals she is pregnant and the two share an adorable moment together.

Later in the episode, Stadnik’s character is fully explained. In the present day, Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) visit a doctor and together, they learn their baby boy, Jack, is blind. The scene cuts back to Stadnik’s character, and he is introduced as Jack Damon. And as the older Jack steps out into a stadium packed with adoring fans, it becomes clear he is Kate and Toby’s son.

Now that baby Jack’s future has been revealed, viewers are wondering how Stadnik’s character will play out in the fourth season. And while some are patiently waiting to see how everything unfolds, others have taken matters in their own hands in the form of fan theories.

Lucy and Jack Damon will have triplets

In a Reddit discussion board surrounding the premiere episode, a fan predicted Jack and Lucy’s future. “I’m calling it now, Lucy and (Blonde)Jack are going to have triplets,” the Redditor explained.

Another fan then added to the theory. “Yeah possible,” the fan wrote. “And her giving birth to all 3 of em is the series finale.”

However, not all viewers were on board. “But how realistic is that?” a Reddit user wrote in response to the original comment. “That’s part of the appeal of the show, it’s realism.”

“I don’t think that realistic at all,” another viewer agreed. “Fraternal triplets would require Lucy to drop multiple eggs, which has nothing to do with Jack’s genes. Plus triplets are extremely rare. I don’t know if I’d be down with that storyline.”

Jack is blind, but how will it affect Kate and Toby in ‘This Is Us’ Season 4?

Following the This Is Us Season 4 premiere, fans also hypothesized what Jack’s blindness means for Kate and Toby’s ongoing storyline. In a discussion thread on Reddit, a fan questioned Kate and Toby’s relationship, as future Toby has been seen without his wedding ring.

In the original post, the fan explained Toby and Kate might be divorced or Kate might be dead. However, another fan shared a bit of insight in relation to the addition of Jack.

“I don’t think Kate and Toby are still together in the future, and now that we know little Jack is blind, I think that can be a contributing factor,” the fan wrote. “A lot of marriages end in divorce when a child has a disability (different parenting techniques, one parent not being able to handle it, etc), so that, and maybe Toby’s weight loss may have resentment building up between them.”

Quite frankly, anything could happen as This Is Us progresses through season 4. The premiere prompted a thousand new questions in relation to the Pearson family, including baby — and adult — Jack, Kate, and Toby. But, of course, the writers want to keep fans on their toes. Thus, the next few episodes are going to be big — so get ready.
