Jaclyn Hill Confesses She Must Force Herself out of Bed Some Days

Jaclyn Hill has faced no small amount of backlash in the past few months. After the launch of her makeup company (Jaclyn Cosmetics) went awry, Hill struggled to properly deal with the enormity of the situation. When fans began to report contaminants such as rat hair, white fuzzies, and plastic embedded in her So Rich lipsticks, she found herself the constant topic of controversy.

Amidst all the lipstick drama, Hill decided to take a hiatus from social media. Hill deactivated both her Instagram and Twitter profiles and didn’t post any new YouTube videos for several weeks. Now Hill is back on all platforms and is opening up about how she is doing. Taking to her Instagram page, Hill penned a message to her 6.2 million followers about her struggles with mental health, particularly anxiety, which she sometimes finds crippling.

Hill struggles with anxiety

“Some days I have to force myself to get out of bed (this was one of those days) & then force myself to put a smile on my face & then force myself to act like nothing is wrong. And the whole time I feel like I’m dying. My heart is racing, I feel like I can’t breathe, I feel like everyone knows how miserable I am & I feel humiliated. BUT I have to remind myself that everything is okay. I am healthy, I am going to be just fine, anxiety & depression can affect even the strongest people,” Hill began, sharing intimate details about how her anxiety can affect her.

How therapy has helped Hill

Hill continued to share that therapy has helped her find ways to cope with her battles with anxiety. “I have to remind myself that I am in control of my mind & body! Even when I don’t believe it, I say it! And it’s taken me years of therapy to finally start to accept & agree to that. I did not want to go to this cubs game due to my anxiety, but I’m so glad I did! I don’t know who needs to hear this & I feel kind of embarrassed exposing myself like this…. but, it’s okay to not be okay,” the 29-year-old confessed.

A strong support system

Hill ended on a positive note, giving thanks to her many supporters who help her along the way and make her feel less alone. “I give millions of thank you’s to my friends, family & subscribers for being there for me and creating such a great support system for one another! I love you all so much! Also, keeping it 100%, I was shaking with anxiety while taking these photos. But remember to breathe! You’re not alone! The night got better,” the Jaclyn Cosmetics CEO concluded.

Immediately, Hill’s fans began flooding her with an outpouring of love and support. The post currently has over 378K likes and Hill’s supporters are thanking her for her bravery. “Reading this and watching you talk through/and about your anxiety so openly for years is proof of how God uses your weakest moments to bring strength, hope, and light to others. You’re such a gift, Jaclyn,” one fan wrote.

Some fans are still upset about the lipstick

Unfortunately, not all of the feedback was positive. Though Hill has been open about her struggles with depression and anxiety for years, many fans believe that her anxiety was triggered by a guilty conscious. “You wouldn’t feel anxious if you weren’t carrying the weight of RIPPING OFF thousands of your followers,” one angry critic wrote. “She needs to get over her pity party she gives herself all the time, who we should feel bad for is all the fans that tried her lipstick from Jaclyn Cosmetics and got an infection, cuts, etc.,’ another chimed in.

Using her Instagram influence for good

While we don’t agree with all of Hill’s choices as the CEO for Jaclyn Cosmetics, we commend her for speaking out about mental health. The more people who talk about it, the less of a stigma it becomes in our society. Using her platform to speak out about her own struggles may give others the license to do so also, which is using her influencer status for good.
