Jada Pinkett Smith Got Her First Arm Tattoo for Her Sleeve—What Does It Mean?
Jada Pinkett Smith has officially crossed over to the “tatted crew,” as she recently revealed her new arm tattoo which is a prelude to the sleeve she’s working on. It seems that more and more people are developing a thing for the ink, the arts, spontaneous trips, and all the above with the time spent in quarantine. It’s no secret that during COVID so much has been silenced, paused, and stopped that the desire and joy for other things quickly arose. These days the common excuses of “lack of time,” or “I’ll get to it another time,” seem to be far and few. Not to say that Smith hasn’t always wanted this tattoo, but since it looks like she has there’s no time like the present to get it done.
What’s the meaning behind Jada’s tattoo?
This past Sunday, Smith graced us with her stunning Instagram presence sporting the new tattoo on her right arm in honor of “the Divine Feminine journey within and without.”
She paid homage to ancient goddesses, as it’s clear they’re the true inspiration for her new bodywork.
She wrote: “Repp’n the Divine Feminine journey within and without. ✨Jai Ma✨ #MataSita #Allat #Oshun #QuanYin
What will her sleeve look like?
While the news of a sleeve may be news to us, according to Smith this has always been a goal of hers. Though we aren’t sure what the exact other pieces will be to complete the sleeve, with Smith’s track record, there’s no doubt it will be intentional.
“I always said I would get a sleeve at 60 but tomorrow is not promised. Soooo … I’m starting to build my sleeve now!”
Smith has been posting a lot of transformation content and though her latest tattoo, and her admission that she’s getting a full sleeve on her arm, may have come as a shock, it correlates with the ladies of Red Table Talk, getting matching tattoos a few months prior.
They documented the monumental moment in May, on their Facebook Watch series, as Adrienne Banfield-Norris, Willow Smith and Pinkett Smith all got blossoming lotuses tattooed by iconic artist Dr. Woo.
On an episode of Red Table Talk, Willow Smith explained the significance behind their lotuses:
“The lotus represents spiritual enlightenment, and we hear the saying, ‘Through the mud grows the lotus,'” she said while getting her tattoo. “From the bud to the blossom to the bloom, I feel like [it] expresses the spiritual journey but also the three of us: I’m the youngest, my mom is the middle, and Gam is the fully bloomed lotus.”
What could this new chapter look like for her?
With the more recent shaving of Pinkett Smith’s hair, it’s apparent true soul connection is amongst her being and those around her. As she continues to promote health and wellness through her words and natural appearances, fans patiently await the next update of where her soul-centering path will lead to.
