It started with a video by Tati Westbrook, entitled ‘Bye Sister

Tati Westbrook, long-time beauty vlogger and social media influencer, posted a video on May 10, 2019, entitled “Bye Sister.” In this video, she listed several reasons that led to her cutting ties with James Charles. Among Tati’s reasons was James Charles’ predatory behavior towards straight men.

“Whether you’re a woman, a man, gay, straight, bi whatever sexual orientation you are, that is your personal call and it is not someone else’s to take,” said Tati in the Youtube video. “It’s not someone else’s to play with. It’s not someone else’s to mess with and how dare you laugh about it.”

The beauty influencer’s video now has over 39 million views and almost three million likes. Since the video’s posting, former-fans created the “#JamesCharlesIsOverParty” hashtag, unsubscribed to his Youtube channel, and unfollowed his social media accounts.

James Charles posted a video response entitled ‘tati’

Within a few hours, James Charles posted an eight-minute-long Youtube video addressing the claims Tati made against him. He would not be pulling out “receipts,” he explained and instead apologized for his actions. He began crying when he talked about his mother.

The video, posted on May 10, 2019, has over 39 million views. It has over 2 million dislikes.

Since then, famous Youtubers weighed in on the situation. Youtuber Shane Dawson posted on Twitter saying he was “feeling sad.” Dawson has also been the center of controversy in the YouTube community. Members of the “Sister Squad” Emma Chamberlain and the Dolan twins unfollowed James Charles on Instagram. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Kim Karshashian also unfollowed James Charles on Instagram.

James was 2 hours late to his meet and greet in Australia

Most recently, James Charles is under fire for being two hours late to his meet and greet event on Friday. Some fans paid over $500 to attend.

This event took place on the same day James Charles recorded and uploaded his video responding to Tati Westbrook. The meet-and-greet event initially would begin at 10 am. He did not arrive until almost noon. According to Seventeen Magazine, the first thing he did was apologize to the crowd.

“Thank you guys all for coming,” he said. “Thank you for waiting as well. I’m sorry for being a little late. I had lots of personal stuff this morning.”
