Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes Did Not ‘Call Off Wedding,’ Split Report Denied By Actress’ Rep
Although Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have never confirmed their relationship, a report surfaced that claimed it’s over and that the stars were planning a wedding but “called it off.”
The Radar Online report from June 27, alleged that Holmes was “in the midst of planning her dream wedding” when she had a “sudden change of a heart” and decided to cancel it. The site then claims that an unnamed source revealed that “Katie just couldn’t get over her trust issues” and is “devastated” about the breakup.
All of this was news to Foxx, who was in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Thursday for the opening of the new Ocean Resort Casino and was meeting the actress there. His rep did not comment but Holmes’ rep, Leslie Sloane, was not happy about the false reporting and debunked the entire story. “The Radar story is 100 percent untrue,” she told People.
The Beat Shazam host and Dawson’s Creek star were first linked in 2013 when they were spotted dancing with one another in the Hamptons after Homles’ marriage to Tom Cruise ended the year before. However, they denied being a couple and insisted they were “just friends.”
Foxx was even pressed about their relationship by the paparazzi but maintained that it was nothing more than a friendship and they were working on a project together. “That’s all it is,” he said.
Even their close friends and family have stayed tight-lipped about their status over the years.
In 2016, one of Foxx’s pals did accidentally out the two actors as a couple. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Claudia Jordan, said during a podcast that “[Foxx] is very happy with her. I like that he seems very happy.” But once her comments made the rounds, she walked them back and told ET, “I have no knowledge of Jamie with Katie at all. I’ve never seen them together. He’s never told me he’s dating her.”
In September 2017 though, it seemed like the cat was out the bag on Hollywood’s worst-kept secret when they were photographed together on a beach in Malibu. The duo then started stepping with one another more and more including at Foxx’s 50th birthday bash in December, at Clive Davis’s Pre-Grammy Awards Gala in January, when they played basketball together on Valentine’s Day, and had lunch and dinner dates at Nobu and Carbone in April and May.
Still, they are not comfortable talking about their relationship. An insider close to Foxx told People that “He is not one to acknowledge anything about his private life and neither does Katie. They are happy, they just don’t flaunt anything. Jamie will always go out of his way to stay discreet.” The source added that with their relationship, “There are no obligations, no requirements. They aren’t focused on what’s next or what the future holds.”
So, now we know the whole split report is bogus and while these two may not be planning a wedding, they are still very much together.
