Jamie Foxx Defends the Woman He Was Seen Holding Hands with Amid Split from Katie Holmes
Jamie Foxx wants to clear some things up.
Anytime there is a celebrity breakup, people always wonder what happened and then sources close to the couple come out with insider info about what went on in the relationship. Fans speculate about who was at fault. And in most cases, we never actually hear from the couple that was involved.
After his breakup with longtime girlfriend Katie Holmes, Foxx has decided not to let the rumor mill keep running.
Foxx and Holmes’ breakup
Earlier this week, news broke that Holmes and Foxx had called it quits after six years of being together.
But according to people close to the couple, their relationship was never very hot and heavy anyway.
“They never had a typical relationship,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “They have always been incredibly independent and their lives didn’t revolve around each other. They lived separately and in different cities and saw each other occasionally.”
Eventually, their lives allegedly got too busy to maintain anything between them.
“They are just both caught up with their own families, careers, and obligations that their relationship had to take a back seat,” the source said.
Foxx and Sela Vave
Shortly before Foxx and Holmes’ split was made public, Foxx was seen holding hands with singer Sela Vave.
Foxx had apparently been mentoring the young artist, which is why the two have been spending so much time together. Vave has even posted Foxx on her social media before.
Foxx clears up rumors about him and Vave
Eventually, Foxx got tired of all of the backlash that Vave was receiving from people who thought that she was the reason that he and Holmes split. He took to his Instagram Live to explain that Vave was just a new artist that he was helping, as he has done with several others.
“When I met Ed Sheeran, I didn’t know him from Adam,” Foxx said. “He slept on my couch for six weeks — he ended up going on to do great things.”
“Nick Cannon was 13 years old, he would sleep in my old house,” he continued. “Before Ne-Yo was Ne-Yo, he would come to the crib. Everybody comes to my crib, no matter who you are.”
“But here was the thing, there is a young lady by the name of Sela Vave. I did the same thing with her.”
He said that he met Vave through another artist and heard her sing outside of his house.
“She’s singing broken down Beyoncé, playing the guitar and I said ‘How the f— did this happen?'”
“So, we took her under our wing,” Foxx explained.
Why were Foxx and Vave holding hands?
Foxx went on to explain what actually happened on the infamous night where he and Vave were seen holding hands.
“I’m escorting her to my car, to put her in the car — my artist, who hangs out with my kids and is as young as my daughter,” he said of the incident.
“People try to make mountains out of molehills. We want to treat her the same way and give her the same opportunities,” he said.
