Jay-Z and Beyonce Gave Prince Harry and Meghan Markle This Parenting Advice at ‘The Lion King’ Premiere
Meghan Markle and Beyonce fans lost it today when their worlds collided and they finally met — at The Lion King UK premiere. It was, as you would imagine, a lovely interaction, beginning with Markle and Beyonce sharing a long hug and continuing through with some pleasant conversation that reportedly included Jay-Z dropping parenting advice on the new mom and dad.
Their meeting shows they’re fans of one another
It was a very sweet meeting, as Beyonce and Jay-Z stood at The Lion King premiere to meet Prince Harry and Markle. The duchess was seen making eye contact with Beyonce before reaching out to hug her as the two lingered for an extra long embrace. They continued to keep an arm on one another as they exchanged some pleasantries as Jay-Z stood by smiling.
The exact details of their conversation couldn’t be entirely made out over the music playing, but they clearly compliment one another and bond over motherhood.
According to royal reporter Emily Andrews, Beyonce congratulated the new mom on Archie’s arrival, sharing: “The baby, so beautiful,” adding, “We love you guys.”
Jay-Z then hugged Markle and congratulated her on the baby, as the duchess paused for a moment for Harry to catch up with them. He greeted Beyonce with a kiss on each cheek and a hug before extending his hand to shake Jay-Z’s hand.
Prince Harry was heard saying, “You’ve been rather busy,” before Jay-Z told him: “Congratulations on the birth of your baby.” Prince Harry reportedly asked the couple about their twins Rumi and Sir, with Beyonce explaining, “They are not here. They don’t come on every trip,” adding, “We left them at home. They would love to have been here.”
Jay-Z reportedly gave Harry a bit of solid parenting advice, from one famous dad to another: “The best advice I can give you, always find some time for yourself.”
What their body language says about the meeting
Body language expert Judi James shared her analysis about what nonverbal cues were in play, as The Mirror reported that Beyonce “upstaged the royal couple by arriving after them and walked the red carpet last — a privilege usually reserved for the most famous star attending the event.”
James noted: “These two greet one another with a ritual that defines them as warm friends. Meghan performs a head tilt of friendly recognition as she gets to Beyonce in the line up, then announces and instigates the embrace by raising her left hand up.”
She added: “The women start with a cheek-kiss that converts into a mutual hug, with Beyonce closing her eyes to register deep affection. They keep their hands in place as they part to talk, with their left hands clasped and performing the kind of judder that is a strong tie-sign of mutual friendship.”
James further shared: “Meghan then looks impatient to introduce Harry to Beyonce, touching Beyonce’s arm before the pair perform a cheek-kiss.”
Buckingham Palace noted that the movie premiere was held in “support of the conservation and communities work of His Royal Highness through The Royal Foundation.”
