JAY-Z and Kanye West Just Reunited At Diddy’s 50th Birthday Bash

It’s good to see that two musical icons are back on good terms. Though JAY-Z and Kanye West have had a sordid personal and business relationship, it appears that since we are entering a new decade, the rappers have decided to put old feuds to bed.

After years of friction, both the New York-born rapper and the Chicago producer have taken steps to make amends with one another. Though they were once very close, even doing their 2011 join album, Watch the Throne together, their values and lifestyle differences have driven them apart in recent years.

However, they are now both married fathers with different priorities, and it seems like both Kanye and JAY-Z are ready to let the past be the past.

Inside JAY-Z and Kanye West’s long-standing feud

Whispers of tension between the rappers stemmed from their Watch the Throne studio sessions. Though Kanye was not openly struggling with any mental health issues at the time — his perfectionism put a strain on his relationship with the Roc-A-Fella Records founder.

By 2014 — when Kanye wed Kim Kardashian got married — JAY-Z and Beyoncé were experiencing issues in their marriage, so they did not attend the nuptials. The Life of Pablo rapper did not take too kindly to that. In 2016 he went on a rant calling JAY-Z out for his absence and for not checking on Kardashian when she was robbed at gunpoint.

“There will never be a Watch the Throne 2,” Kanye ranted in 2016. “Don’t call me, after the robbery, and say ‘How you feelin’?’ You wanna know how I’m feeling? Come by the house. Bring the kids by the house, like we’re brothers.”During an interview with The Breakfast Club, he explained,

I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding. I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not going to miss a wedding. I’m not using this interview to put out any negative things, but I gotta state my truth. You just start coming up with all type of crazy things in your head, like ‘Why?’

Since then both the College Dropout rapper and the 4:44 MC have spoken about getting their relationship back on the right track.

Kanye West and JAY-Z are on really good terms

Though they’ve certainly had issues in the past, there was nothing but good vibes between the two rappers at Diddy’s 50th birthday party. On Dec. 14, the men showed up dressed to the nines to celebrate the Bad Boy Mogul (whose actual birthday is Nov. 4).

In a video circling Beyoncé’s internet, the men posed alongside Diddy and Pharell and they even shook hands at one point.

JAY-Z and Kanye West will always be family

Like any other relationship, friendships can go through trials and tribulations, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a mutual respect. “It’s a complicated relationship with us. Kanye came into this business on my label. So I’ve always been like his big brother,” JAY-Z told The New York Times’ T Magazine. “And we’re both entertainers. It’s always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother. And we both love and respect each other’s art, too. So it’s like, we both — everyone wants to be the greatest in the world. You know what I’m saying?”
