Jeff Bezos purchases new $165 million estate in Los Angeles
After making $13 million in just minutes last month, Bezos is splurging on a massive estate in Los Angeles. TMZ reported that Bezos just scooped up David Geffen’s former property.
Bezos just recently purchased the 9-acre property. It once belonged to Warner Bros. founder and president, Jack L. Warner, before Geffen. With so many high powered owners, the media outlet noted that the estate was one of Los Angeles most coveted properties. It sits in the famed Beverly Hills section of the city.
The 13,600-square-foot mansion took nearly 10 years to construct and has large terraces and gardens. There are also are multiple guest houses, a nursery, greenhouses, a tennis court, a swimming pool, a 9-hole golf course its own car emporium with gas pumps.
The purchase is history-making – it’s the most expensive home ever sold in Los Angeles.
This isn’t Jeff Bezos first major real estate purchase within the last year
Before the $165 million bill, Bezos copped three adjacent apartments in New York City. Business Insider reported that his new NYC pads include a three-story penthouse and the two units directly below it on Fifth Avenue near Madison Square Park. The new digs put him in the hole for a reported $80 million.
Bezos was said to be searching for a new spot in NYC after his divorce from MacKenzie Bezos was finalized. He initially only wanted to spend about $60 million but loved the units so much that he decided to spare another $20 million.
The NYC apartments are more than 17,000 square feet and have 12 bedrooms in total with private elevators.
The two most recent properties are just a few of the homes Bezos owns across the country. He owns two homes that total nearly $30,000 square feet in Washington state. His home is in the exclusive suburb of Medina and protected by gates and elaborate security systems. It underwent a $28 million renovation in 2010, 12 years after he purchased it. The home also has a boathouse.
Bezos also has other properties in Beverly Hills. He purchased a seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom Spanish-style mansion in 2007 for $24.5 million. The home has a greenhouse, a sunken and lighted tennis court, a huge swimming pool, four fountains, and a six-car garage. Just two years later, he expanded by buying the property that sits directly next door!
As of 2016, Bezos added the US capital to the list, paying $23 million for a former textile museum in Washington, D.C. Like his newest Beverly Hills estate, his D.C. property is the largest home in the area.
What fun it must be to be rich!
