Jeff Lewis Reveals How Much Money He Spent on a Lawyer to Meet with Gage Edward over Child Custody
Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward don’t have things after their split completely figured out. That’s because they have a daughter, Monroe and they need to figure out custody.
Lewis claimed they hired lawyers to help, but how much did it cost? Here is what the Flipping Out star claimed and more.
Jeff Lewis announced his split from Gage Edward in January
Many fans were able to follow Lewis and Edward’s relationship on Flipping Out. They got a surprising update from Lewis on his radio show, Jeff Lewis Live about their relationship.
“This has been a long time coming. We were in separate rooms a significant portion of last year, so it was kind of like a roommate situation,” he revealed. He went on to list the reasons why they were staying in that situation.
“I think the reason we hadn’t ripped the Band-Aid off and separated is because a) we had the baby and neither one of us want to leave the baby and then b) financially, it wasn’t the best time because I have four properties right now — three of which are in construction and one of which is sellable,” he explained.
The former couple was reportedly having trouble with custody before
Lewis claimed that he and Edward were having trouble coming up with a custody schedule for their daughter. He revealed why their system wasn’t working.
“I did say to Gage yesterday, moving forward, we need to have some sort of schedule,” he said on his radio show according to Page Six. “I said, ‘I know that our schedules change weekly, but how about Sundays we go over the week ahead of time?’ I don’t necessarily want to be there when he’s there all the time.”
It sounded like they planned to go over a plan together soon. “So I said, ‘Let’s go over the week. We’ll go over when you want to see [Monroe]. When I want to see her,’” he said. “I said, ‘You’re not coming over twice a day anymore. That’s just not realistic.’ I’m not saying he cannot see her twice a day but, for example, I go to New York today. He’s going to stay at the house for four days. So he’s got her for four straight days.”
The home designer added, “I don’t think we need attorneys at this point.” That has since changed.
Lewis claims he spent almost $6,000 on a lawyer for one meeting
The reality star gave an update on how their custody arrangement is going. They are now trying to get help figuring out an agreement. Lewis said things didn’t go as planned.
“I thought this meeting was going to be . . . about custody arrangements,” Lewis said on his radio show according to People. “We’re going to talk about financial support. We’re going to handle it all and move forward.”
He said the meeting was about just one week instead of their plan moving forward. “Am I going to spend six thousand a week to talk about visitation? It was insane,” the reality star asked. He claimed he had to be separated from Edwards by their lawyers.
“He couldn’t keep it together,” Lewis said. “He was so angry and irrational that they had to move him to another conference room.”
The former couple is no longer working together and Edward reported got a job outside of Jeff Lewis Design. He also recently created his own Instagram account.
