‘The Good Place’ Writer Jen Statsky‏ Alleges Ben Affleck Groped Multiple People at 2014 Party

Ben Affleck is now being accused of groping at a 2014 Golden Globes party, with one woman saying she was inappropriately grabbed by Affleck and another women saying several of her friends experienced the same thing.

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal, and in the wake of Ben Affleck’s statement admonishing Weinstein, actress Hilarie Burton said on Wednesday that she was groped by Affleck on an episode of TRL in the early 2000s. Video of this incident quickly surfaced, and Affleck publicly apologized.

Soon after, makeup artist Annamarie Tendler said that she too would like an apology after Ben Affleck allegedly groped her at a 2014 Golden Globes party.

The Good Place writer Jen Statsky then backed up Tendler’s allegations, saying that she was at this Golden Globes party in 2014 and has multiple friends who had this exact same experience.

At the 2014 Golden Globes, Ben Affleck was not nominated for any award, but he was given the honor of presenting the award for Best Director, as he had won that prize the previous year for his work on Argo.

Although Ben Affleck responded to the Hilarie Burton allegation, he has not yet responded to the tweets from Annamarie Tendler and Jen Statsky, with the Burton post being his most recent tweet.

This all comes a week after The New York Times’ bombshell report that Harvey Weinstein allegedly sexually harassed and assaulted women for decades. Since the initial report, a number of celebrities have gone on record as saying that they were personally harassed by Weinstein, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Cara Delevingne. A number of other women have also said they were raped by Weinstein.

Following these reports, actors who have benefited from Weinstein and his company have been called upon to speak out against him, including Ben Affleck, whose first major success was the Weinstein-distributed Good Will Hunting. In a statement posted to his Facebook account, Affleck seemed to imply that he was not aware of Weinstein’s behavior and noted that he was disgusted by it.

“I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades,” Affleck said. “The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others.”

But actress Rose McGowan wasn’t buying it, suggesting on Twitter that Affleck was fully aware of Weinstein’s behavior. Affleck’s statement also led one Twitter user to point out that he “grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though.” Burton quickly responded, saying that she never forgot about it.

Affleck soon issued an apology, and it was in response to this apology that several more groping allegations emerged. It remains to be seen how Affleck will respond to the new accusations.
