Jenelle and Barbara Evans Engage in a Verbal Altercation Outside of Court
Jenelle Evans has always had a knack for spinning a situation in her mind. Her current court battle to regain custody of her children is no different. The former Teen Mom 2 star left court on Tuesday afternoon, but she wasn’t done fighting just yet. Cameras caught Evans arguing with her mother Barbara Evans right outside the courthouse. Allegedly, their argument pertained to Jenelle’s youngest child, Ensley. Ensley, 2, was placed with Barbara Evans on May 28. The elder Evans also has legal custody of Jenelle’s oldest child, Jace, 9.
What was Barbara and Jenelle’s fight about?
Barbara and Jenelle’s heated exchange was caught on camera by TMZ. It appears that Evans, 28, was not willing to give her daughter back to her mother right away, and the elder Evans was in a rush to leave. Jenelle instructed her mother to get an officer if she had a problem with her holding her child, and the conversation devolved from there.
The camera continued to roll as Jenelle, and her mother continued their conversation. Barbara managed to mostly keep her cool while Jenelle attempted to bait her. The mother of three claimed that she’d be calling CPS to discuss her concerns about Ensley’s care.
Jenelle claims Barbara is ‘jealous”
Jenelle took to the internet to discuss the argument via social media. She also spoke exclusively with Us Magazine about the argument and her fractured relationship. Jenelle went on to tell the magazine that she believes Barbara is “jealous,” but she stopped short of explaining what exactly she might be jealous of.
The disgraced reality star seems to be the one who is jealous, though. She went on to allege Barbara fights “so hard” for her brother and sister but does nothing for her. Those are some bold words coming from Jenelle. After all, she’s the same woman who dragged her mother on stage at the Teen Mom 2 reunion special to defend her.
Barbara did get a few verbal shots in during the disagreement. She, at one point, told the cameras that the scene was specifically for the cameras. The statement suggested, to some onlookers, that Evans doesn’t really care about her child. Barbara’s claim is one that fans have long believed. After all, the mother of three has seemingly chosen her gun-toting husband over her children.
David and Jenelle’s case has been continued until the end of June
Barbara and Jenelle may not be on speaking terms, but it seems like the mother-daughter duo will need to face-off a few more times. Thankfully, they won’t have to meet in court again until the end of the month. A judge had previously ordered David and Jenelle to return to court on June 4 to further discuss what they’ll need to do to regain custody of their children.
Now that they have a list of objectives, they won’t be returning to the courthouse until the end of the month. By that time, Jenelle and David will need to show the judge that they’ve made progress on providing a safe environment for the children. There is no word on when or if the tumultuous couple will get their kids back.
