Aniston’s Emmy nomination marked her first Lead Actress nomination since her time on Friends, and it was also her first nomination in the Drama category. Because of the coronavirus, the ceremony for the awards show will be held virtually on September 20.

Even though the ceremony will be virtual, Aniston ended her Instagram post with enforcing the idea of mask-wearing, writing:

“What a morning waking up to this news! I am so proud of my @themorningshow family. This team worked so, so hard to make the best show we possibly could, and I am truly honored to be a part of it. Thanks for this acknowledgment and congratulations to EVERYONE

Now, I’m just gonna have to figure out what MASK I’M GONNA WEAR”

Jennifer Aniston is a big proponent of wearing masks

Fans of Aniston know that she uses her social media platform to try and encourage others to wear masks during the pandemic. She frequently posts on Instagram reminding her followers to wear one.

In an Instagram post on June 30, Aniston published a lengthy post about the importance of masks, writing:

“I understand masks are inconvenient and uncomfortable. But don’t you feel that it’s worse that businesses are shutting down… jobs are being lost… health care workers are hitting absolute exhaustion. And so many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren’t doing enough. ⠀

I really do believe in the basic goodness of people so I know we can all do this BUT still, there are many people in our country refusing to take the necessary steps to flatten the curve, and keep each other safe. People seem worried about their ‘rights being taken away’ by being asked to wear a mask. This simple and effective recommendation is being politicized at the expense of peoples’ lives. And it really shouldn’t be a debate

If you care about human life, please… just #wearad*mnmask and encourage those around you to do the same”

She stars in ‘The Morning Show’

Aniston plays Alex Levy, an anchor on a breakfast news program, in The Morning Show. She stars in the show alongside Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell. The show focuses on how Alex grapples with her co-anchor Mitch Kessler (Carell) being fired for sexual misconduct as she fights to keep her job with the network.

In an interview with EW, Aniston explained working on the show is the hardest role of her career.

“This role never could’ve come to me any sooner than now,” Aniston said. “It’s one of the hardest jobs I’ve had. I knew I was up to the task, but then there was the excavation of all the emotions in order to create this world for this woman. All of her lifelines are falling away. I would walk out of some of those scenes feeling like a manhole cover just came off my back.”
