Jennifer Aniston Recalls ‘Friends’ Actor Had An Attitude — ‘As If They Were Too Above This’
Jennifer Aniston is well known to many pop culture fans as Rachel Green from the iconic ’90s sitcom Friends. The show not only made Aniston and her co-star’s major media personalities, but it went down in history as a series that combined pathos, humor, and hilariously awkward situations.
With the recent release of a Friends reunion special on HBO Max, many more fans are discovering the brilliance of Aniston in her signature role. Recently, Aniston paid a visit to Howard Stern’s radio show and talked about her time on Friends. During the course of the interview, Aniston also talked about one of the show’s guest stars, who made his disdain for the guest spot very apparent to the entire cast and crew.
Jennifer Aniston said a guest star had an attitude on the set of ‘Friends’
Over the years, many high-profile guest stars appeared on Friends, from Tom Selleck to Brad Pitt. Most of the guest stars were beloved by the cast and even spoke up in the reunion special about how much they loved their time on the set of Friends. However, one particular guest star was not thrilled to be ther, and made his displeasure obvious.
In mid-June, Jennifer Aniston paid a visit to SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, talking to the infamous shock jock about this guest star. After admitting that the star, whom she did not name, had an “attitude,” Aniston said “it was as if they were just too ‘above’ this, to be on a sitcom. And I remember when we were doing a network run-through, the network and the producers would just laugh. And this person would be like, ‘Listen to them, just laughing at their own jokes. So stupid, not even funny.’
Aniston went on to describe how “it was just like, ‘What are you doing here? Your attitude, this is not what we’re all about. This is a wonderful, warm place to be, and you’re coming into our home and just s——- on it.'”
Was it Tom Selleck?
Aniston did reveal to Stern the unnamed guest star apologized to her for his behavior, years later: “The funny thing is, that male did apologize about their behavior years later, and just said, ‘I was so nervous, to be honest, that I wasn’t on my best behavior.”
Stern tried to get Aniston to divulge who the star was, but with Aniston not budging, Stern made his own guess, throwing out Tom Selleck’s name. Selleck, who notably appeared on Friends as one of Monica’s love interests, has maintained an affectionate association with the show over the years.
Aniston was quick to dismiss the idea that he was the offender, joking that “Tom has an angel’s halo over his head, it’s just a permanent halo over Tom’s head.”
Jennifer Aniston thinks that ‘Friends’ is the ‘gift of a lifetime’
As for Aniston’s feelings about Friends these days, she’s remained consistent in her belief that the show has been a big blessing in her life. Not only did the series make her a star, but it introduced her to lifelong buddies such as Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow. “I mean, Friends was truly — it was the gift of a lifetime, and I would not be standing up here without that amazing show, without those amazing five other actors, and with an audience who stuck with us for a decade,” the actor admitted in 2019.
