Jennifer Lopez is on top of the world. She’s currently on tour performing in front of thousands of people every night, and the pop icon recently celebrated her 50th birthday — though she looks decades younger than that. Plus, she’s engaged to Alex Rodriguez, and the two appear to be more in love than ever. Have they set a wedding date?

Lopez and Rodriguez met in a surprising way

Believe it or not, the first time Lopez met Rodriguez was when she attended a New York Yankees game back in 2005 with then-husband Marc Anthony. The two had a brief interaction, but clearly, there were no sparks (Rodriguez was also married at the time.) However, fast forward more than a decade, and Lopez spotted Rodriguez outside of a restaurant in Los Angeles in 2017. Having remembered him from years ago, she decided to walk up and say hello. Later that night, Rodriguez called her and asked her on their first date.

It didn’t take long for the news to leak that Lopez and Rodriguez were dating. Though they did their best to keep the relationship private, they quickly became an “it” couple without even trying. Rodriguez was retired from baseball at this point and had gone through a bit of a rough patch when the news of his steroid use broke, but the public had a “forgive and forget” attitude that helped Rodriguez through it. Plus, he and Lopez are so cute together — how could anyone hate them? Lopez made it clear that she wasn’t rushing into a marriage with Rodriguez, but it was pretty obvious the two were meant for each other. About two years after they started dating, Rodriguez proposed to Lopez on the beach in the Bahamas.  

The couple has kept wedding details private but said they aren’t rushing

Though the two are excited to spend the rest of their lives together, they have been taking things slowly when it comes to wedding planning. “We’re going to just take our time and do it right,” Lopez told Entertainment Tonight. Right now, there aren’t too many details about the wedding, but the two hadn’t even started planning it yet the last time Lopez was asked about it. Lopez is on tour right now, plus she has a new movie, “Hustlers,” coming out in September, so it looks like she has a lot on her plate. It wouldn’t surprise us if the two didn’t get married until late next year, at the earliest.

We likely won’t find out their wedding date until after the wedding

Realistically, we probably won’t find out the couple’s wedding date until after it happens. Rodriguez once said on Good Day New York that he’d like a fall wedding, since it’s an exciting time with the World Series (figures), but with everything going on in Lopez’s life right now, they probably won’t get married in the fall. The two haven’t announced a wedding date, and they might even keep it under wraps until they’re married. But we’ll be patiently waiting for photos.
