Jennifer Lopez landed her first big movie role in 1997

Engaged to former MLB baseball player, Alex Rodriguez, J. Lo began her acting career at a young age. Her first major film came in 1997 when she portrayed Tejano star, Selena Quintanilla, in a biopic two years after the singer’s death. Loved by critics and fans alike, J. Lo’s performance in Selena brought the film’s director to tears on set.

Today Selena remains one of J. Lo’s most beloved movie roles not to mention it gave her acting career momentum. From there, J. Lo went on to land roles in many movies. Today, the 50-year-old triple threat has 113 acting credits to her name, according to IMDb. She’s been in everything from thrillers and romantic comedies to action films and a handful of them are currently available on streaming platforms.

Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis and J. Lo star in the 2015 thriller, Lila and Eve. According to IMDb, Gertrude died giving birth to their daughter forcing Ollie to figure out how to be a father as a widower.
