Jennifer Lopez Shades Oscar Winner Gwyneth Paltrow and Other A-List Actresses in Recently Unearthed Interview

Jennifer Lopez may in the running for an Oscar this year, though a recently unearthed interview could put her at odds with her Hollywood peers. The interview was from way back in 1998 when Lopez was coming off performances in Selena and was working on Thieves and Out of Sight. At one point in the interview, Lopez shaded Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow for being a celebrity by association. Ouch. Unfortunately, her insults did not stop there.

Paltrow gets shaded by Lopez

Lopez played the “I don’t know her” game when asked about Paltrow in the 1998 interview, which took place beside a pool and featured a bikini-clad Lopez.

According to the New York Post, the singer alluded to the idea that Paltrow is only famous because of her connection to Brad Pitt, whom she dated from 1994 to 1997.

“Tell me what she’s been in? I swear to God, I don’t remember anything she was in,” Lopez shared. “Some people get hot by association. I heard more about her and Brad Pitt than I ever heard about her work.”

Jennifer Lopez was only 27 years old at the time of the shade-filled interview. She was also still married to Ojani Noa and was riding a wave of fame thanks to her recent projects.

The chat recently re-surfaced and has officially gone viral on social media. To make things worse, Lopez has been getting a lot of Oscars buzz for her work in the movie, Hustlers.

What’s even more hilarious is that Paltrow won an Academy Award in 1998. The actress took home an Oscar for Best Actress for her work in Shakespeare in Love – a movie Lopez apparently missed.

While Lopez has won plenty of awards throughout her career, she is still looking to nab an elusive Academy Award.

Jennifer Lopez blasts other Hollywood A-Listers

Paltrow was not Lopez’s only target in the interview. The Selena star also took jabs at Cameron Diaz, whom she referred to as a “lucky model” who could have done more with her talents.

To be fair, Lopez complimented Diaz for being a beautiful woman, but she followed that up by saying how she is not a big fan of Winona Ryder’s work. In fact, she slammed Ryder for not being popular with fans and only receiving recognition in Hollywood.

When asked about Claire Danes, Lopez admitted that she was good at acting but thought she needed to diversify her roles a bit. She then shaded Madonna (of all people) for being a great performer but a terrible actress.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Lopez attacked Salma Hayek, who reportedly got offered to play the lead in Selena but turned it down.

In no uncertain terms, Lopez said she was the better actress and that Hayek was never offered the Selena role. She then stated that she and Hayek are “in two different realms” when it comes to acting.

How does Lopez feel about the interview?

Three years after the interview, Lopez came out and tried to clarify her comments. The singer assured fans that her words were taken completely out of context and that the interview still haunts her.

Lopez added that she never meant to hurt anyone and alluded that her comments were made in jest and were not supposed to be taken seriously.

Last year, Jennifer Lopez opened up about the controversial interview and re-iterated that she regrets what she said. She also revealed that she did it because she thought it would give her some notoriety, a move that ended up backfiring in the end.

Not surprisingly, most of Lopez’s peers were not happy when the interview was published. It is unclear if Lopez every apologized to the women she shaded, but she might have to now that interview is making the rounds once again.

Jennifer Lopez dazzles at Milan Fashion Week

While the interview has gone viral online, Lopez recently stepped out in a gorgeous gown for Milan Fashion Week. The outfit was the same one Lopez wore for the 2000 Grammys, only this time she reportedly told Donatella Versace to make it a little more revealing.

Following the show, Lopez took to Instagram and shared a photo from her big day. Lopez captioned the post by saying how amazing Milan has been.

Paltrow has not commented on the unearthed interview from Lopez.

Jennifer Lopez just announced that along with Shakira she will headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February.
