‘Jeopardy!’ Host Alex Trebek Is Releasing a Memoir, Here Are 3 Questions We Want Him to Answer
Alex Trebek, the longtime host of the popular game show Jeopardy!, can now add author to his list of job titles because he’s releasing a memoir. The 79-year-old has been the face of Jeopardy! for decades but he’s never penned his thoughts about his life or the program. That is, until now.
At one point, he hadn’t planned on publishing a book nor did he want to write one. But after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he decided to share his memories about Jeopardy! and his life with fans. Ahead, find out more about the game show host’s upcoming memoir and discover questions we hope he answers in its pages.
Alex Trebek’s memoir will debut in July 2020
Set to be released by Simon & Schuster on July 21, 2020, Trebek’s memoir titled The Answer Is… : Reflections on My Life will hit shelves a day before he turns 80. In 160 pages, Trebek’s memoir will cover stories from him about Jeopardy!, including his thoughts on Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer, two of the show’s most memorable contestants. There will also be comments from him on topics outside of Jeopardy! such as marriage, philanthropy, parenting, and spirituality.
Who will replace Alex Trebek as the host of ‘Jeopardy!’?
We already know Trebek has rehearsed his Jeopardy! farewell and shared he doesn’t know who will take over for him as the show’s host but we’d love more details on the subject. Has he ever thought about who he might like to follow in his footsteps? Has he ever offered up names to production? Are there TV personalities he wouldn’t want to lead the show?
In the wake of his pancreatic cancer diagnosis, we wonder if Trebek and the production staff came up with a plan for the sad day when he retires from his hosting duties or if they are waiting until he makes the decision to end his time on the show.
How did he react when Will Ferrell played him on ‘Saturday Night Live’?
Will Ferrell famously did an impression of Trebek on Saturday Night Live. We’d love to know how Trebek felt about the skit. Over the years, Trebek has shared how he felt about seeing the comedian and actor do an impression of him but we want to know more about it. Did he feel weird seeing someone pretend to be him on TV? Does Trebek even watch SNL or did he hear about it from friends and family?
The good news is that Trebek will cover Ferrell’s impression of him in his memoir. We can’t wait to find out what he thought about it.
How does Alex Trebek prepare for a taping of ‘Jeopardy!’?
Basically anything that has to do with the behind-the-scenes aspects of Jeopardy!, we want to know. Specifically, how does the TV personality get ready to be on camera? Does he simply show up on set at a certain time for hair and makeup then go in front of the camera and read trivia to contestants?
Or does he rehearse in advance of a taping? We’d imagine after years and years of hosting the show, Trebek doesn’t need much time, if any at all, to rehearse.
Watch Jeopardy! weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
