‘Jersey Shore’: Lauren Opens up About Having a Miscarriage After Mike Sorrentino Returned Home
One person who kept fans updated while he was away is his wife, Lauren. She recently revealed that she had a miscarriage after he returned home. Find out what she said and why she decided to talk about it.
Mike Sorrentino married Lauren before he went to prison
The couple walked down the aisle before Mike went to prison. The bride opened up about her feelings about the big day with Us Weekly.
“It’s every girl’s lifelong dream, in combination with marrying the most important person in your life,” she said. “It was like the calm before the fun and chaos! It was all perfect.”
Mike talked about being nervous about the big day. “I’m on stages in front of crowds, I do motivational speeches on a monthly basis, but on the day of my wedding, the whole day I was trying to gather my composure from just breaking down from happiness,” he said. “It was just really beautiful.”
He was released from prison
The Jersey Shore star served eight months in prison for tax evasion. Fans got a few updates on how he was doing through his co-stars and social media. But he was released on Sept. 12 and he did a few interviews to talk about his time inside himself.
“I would wake up every morning and I would do a very similar schedule,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I was very regimented, I stayed in my intermittent fasting, which is not easy if anybody knows about fasting, for 16 to 19 hours a day.”
He continued, “It’s not easy, you feel almost like a reward once you’ve finished a day, like wow, I did 19 hours today along with working out two to three times along with reading a book or the Bible or a magazine… so I felt very accomplished, staying busy in prison.”
Lauren said she suffered a miscarriage
The couple appeared on Good Morning America to talk about their life after his release. Lauren revealed that she suffered a miscarriage.
“The night he came home we actually conceived,” she revealed. “And then at about six and half, seven weeks I miscarried.” She talked about the emotions she felt after realizing she was pregnant.
“When I found out we were pregnant I felt like this is why we went through all these challenges for years and that this was our time and it was our blessing,” she said. “It was hard. It was really difficult.”
There is still a lot of stigma around announcing early pregnancies and talking about miscarriages. Lauren explained why she wanted to open up about her experience.
“I didn’t want to hold this in. I wanted to share it for other people going through it and just be honest so I can kind of heal through the process,” she said.
