‘Jersey Shore’: The Sweet Reason Snooki Decided to Leave the Show
From the moment Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi debuted on our televisions screens in 2009, fans knew she was something special. Her wild ways and completely unfiltered nature were rarely seen on television before Jersey Shore.
The show did so well in season one that MTV decided to keep the same cast around for season two. Since then, there have been six seasons of the show, spanning from the Jersey Shore to Miami and Italy, and Snooki even got a spin-off with her best friend Jenny ‘Jwoww’ Farley, Snooki & Jwoww. But now that has all come to an end as Snooki has decided to leave the shore for good.
Snooki’s anxiety got in the way of filming
In August, TMZ obtained a video of Snooki storming out of the Jersey Shore house, which made fans wonder what was wrong with the reality star.
“I can’t really tell you what happened, but I’ll let you know that filming the rest of this season, I already had anxiety because I just had a frickin’ baby,” Polizzi said in a YouTube video. “So, leaving my 2-month-old to film and by the way, I went home that night to take care of him. But they’re not going to play that for the show. It’s gonna look like I slept there.”
“But leaving the baby all day to hang out with the roomies and go out, it’s … not something I do every day,” she continued. “I don’t know I had anxiety leaving the baby.”
Why is Snooki leaving ‘Jersey Shore’?
On Dec. 6, Snooki announced on her podcast, It’s Happening with Snooki and Joey, that she was leaving the show that made her famous.
“I am retiring from Jersey Shore,” she said. “The main reason is really….I just can’t do it anymore. Literally, leaving my kids to film it is really hard on me. I try and quit every single day. I just hate being away from the kids. I don’t like partying three days in a row. It’s just not my life anymore. I want to be home with the kid. It’s just really hard for me to leave the kids and film the show.”
Overall, the drama of being on the show got to be too much for the mother of three.
“Our show, Jersey Shore, is about family and making fun of each other and having a good time and laughing and just knowing that it’s all in good fun. Lately, everything is so serious,” she continued. “It’s not about a team anymore. Fans are against one another when it comes to a cast member. I don’t want that. I’m not leaving my kids for DAYS on end to film this show when that’s the result of it. I don’t like the turnout of it. I don’t like the person I’m portrayed as. It’s getting to be a little too much.”
Snooki and JWoww got into a serious altercation with castmate Angelina Pivarnick this season after Pivarnick was accused of kissing JWoww’s boyfriend. The altercation became the focal point of the last portion of the season.
“If I’m doing a reality show, I want it to be fun and I want it to be light-hearted and lately it’s not that,” Snooki said. “The show is getting so dramatic. I can’t be part of something like that, especially when I’m leaving my kids and I’m hurting. I just need to do what’s best for me right now.”
