Jessa Duggar Just Proved She’s Done With Fans Shaming Her and Her Family’s Parenting

We’ve gotten to know the Duggar family quite well over the years, as they’ve certainly come a long way since the early days of 19 Kids and Counting. While Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were the most notable family members at first, fans have taken particular notice of Jessa Duggar. We remember when the 26-year-old star married Ben Seewald and had her secret stolen kiss away from the church, and we also recall when she was pregnant with both of her sons. Now, she’s pregnant with her third — and she’s ready to take on any mom-shamers who fire in her direction.

Most recently, her younger sister, Joy-Anna, received some hate on Instagram for her parenting choices, and Jessa wasn’t having it. Here’s what the older Duggar had to say in response.

Jessa has been mom-shamed many times in the past

Fans love how candid Jessa is with parenting on her Instagram — and now that she’s pregnant with her third child, we’re hoping to get even more in-depth scoop on her life, too. She’s proven that life raising two young boys isn’t easy, and while plenty of her followers appreciate her posts, many others have been quick to shame her in the past.

From the cleanliness of her home to what she allows her sons to get away with, her followers have noted all of Jessa’s faults. Romper notes some of her followers were particularly up in arms when she posted a video of her son, Henry, trying a new food that looked like popcorn. “Babies can choke on popcorn. Why would you let him have that?” one follower asked, while another echoed, “Isn’t he a little young for popcorn.” This incident aside, Parents notes she was also shamed for allowing her son, Spurgeon, to still feed from a bottle when he was 2. And in another cute post of Henry blowing drool bubbles, Romper notes her followers were quick to call her parenting gross and unsanitary.

She’s taken to social media to defend herself as a mother

No matter what negativity her followers may be trying to spread, Jessa isn’t scared to defend herself and continue posting adorable photos and videos of her family. After her followers gave her flack for feeding Spurgeon from a bottle, she posted a photo of her son to shut down the hate. “That’s my boy! Yes, he’s 22 months old. Yes, he drinks water from a sippy cup, and yes, he still prefers to drink much of his milk/kefir from his bottle–especially before nap/bedtime,” she captioned the photo. “So there ya have it. If you are experiencing anxiety over this, please share all your wisdom and perfect parenting advice in the comments section below.”

Jessa has also clapped back at those who have commented on the state of her messy house. The Duggar mom knows her home could be cleaner, but she also refuses to stand by as outsiders criticize her less-than-perfect home. The Hollywood Gossip notes she said in an Instagram post, ” I could’ve waited 24 hrs and posted pics of everything freshly cleaned and looking beautiful (the stovetop is sparkling, dust bunnies have been removed, laundry is folded, bed sheets are washed, etc),” she wrote. “Certainly people would find no fault with that… but many may find fault with themselves. I didn’t do that for a reason. Reality.”

Jessa just shut down the Instagram hate Joy-Anna was getting for her parenting, too

Jessa’s more than willing to defend her own parenting, but she’s also coming to the aid of her family members when they’re under attack. OK! Magazine notes Joy-Anna Duggar and her husband, Austin Forsyth, recently posted about going on a couple’s retreat during their child’s first birthday. Fans seemed quick to judge, as one commented, “Thought it’d be more important to spend your child’s birthday with them rather than a retreat away like you wanna deny and forget him … this really ain’t it chief.”

In response, Jessa took to the comments to add her own opinions. Along with crying laughing emojis, Jessa commented, “All these people acting like you wouldn’t remember it’s the 1 year anniversary of the most physically exhausting and simultaneously most joyous day of your life. Really??” She also added, “Girl, I know y’all are heading back to celebrate Gideon’s bday, but seriously, even if you did stay away one more day it’s not like he’d know you were celebrating late.”

Joy-Anna was thankful for Jessa ceasing the hate, and she reassured her fans that she and Austin would be home to celebrate their son’s birthday later in the evening. Hopefully fans will know not to mess with any of Jessa’s brothers and sisters on social media again.
