Jessa Duggar Returns to Instagram As ‘Counting On’ Fans Voice Concern About Her Social Media Absence
The Duggar family might have some habits that seem strange to many people, from their courting rituals to their anti-dancing stance. But like a lot of us, they’re addicted to social media. The various members of the family regularly interact with their fans on Instagram. So when Jessa Duggar’s account suddenly went quiet in early July, Counting On fans noticed.
‘Counting On’ fans were worried about Jessa Duggar
Jessa gave birth to her third child, a daughter named Ivy Jane, in May. But fans who were hoping for a steady stream of cute baby pics have been disappointed. On July 10, she posted an update of her daughter with a pacifier in her mouth. But after that, there was more than a month of radio silence.
Fans were concerned, with many posting comments saying they missed her content and asking if she was OK. “I hope you’re OK. Been missing your posts,” wrote one. “We miss you Jessa. Hoping everyone is well,” another commented.
Eventually, the main Duggar family Instagram account addressed Jessa’s social media blackout. After sharing a photo of Jessa’s husband Ben Seewald with one of his sons, fans flooded the post with more questions about whether everything was alright with the 26-year-old wife and mom. The Duggar’s account responded, “She is doing great! Busy taking care of her little ones!”
Considering that Jessa has a newborn and two other kids under the age of four, it’s pretty understandable that she’s busy and might want to take a break from social media.
Jessa Duggar returns to Instagram
Soon after the Duggar family account assured Counting On fans that Jessa was doing fine, Jessa herself returned to Instagram. On August 19, she posted a photo of Ivy Jane, Spurgeon, and Henry cuddling on the family’s couch, as well as a snap of a smiling Ivy Jane by herself. “These three. ☺️💞,” she wrote.
Followers on Instagram responded with gushing comments about how cute he Seewald kids were, with many noting Ivy Jane’s resemblance to Jinger Duggar’s daughter Felicity.
“She’s adorable and looks so much like her big cousin Felicity,” wrote one.
Others were happy to see a new update from Jessa. “Finally! I missed your updates. Thanks for sharing,” one fan commented. (Interestingly, family friend Lawson Bates was one of the people who liked the post, which could further fuel fan speculation that he’s courting Jessa’s older sister Jana.)
Jessa Duggar has dealt with mom-shamers on social media
While many people seemed eager for Jessa to return to social media and concerned about her well-being, her followers on social media aren’t always so kind. In the past, she’s dealt with some pretty serious mom-shaming.
In April, she shared a video of her son Spurgeon riding his new Radio Flyer tricycle. But a few critics slammed her for letting her kids ride a trike, saying it was bad for their development. In the past, she’s also taken heat for what she feeds her kids and what some people see as her sloppy housekeeping. Jessa has even taken to social media to defend herself from harsh mommy critics.
Clearly, Jessa’s followers don’t hesitate to share their unvarnished opinions on how she raises her kids. Perhaps she simply decided she didn’t need other people’s input on her parenting at this point in her life and decided to take a short break from social media.
