Did Jesse Williams Just Reveal A Big Secret About the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 15 Finale?
Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 is, sadly, nearing its end. Despite its extended episode order (which we were very happy about, by the way), the season will close out in May, which is typical for full-length seasons of the long-running medical drama. However, there’s still a lot to come, as this is a show that typically packs most of its best content at the very end. Here’s what star Jesse Williams had to say about the rest of the season.
Who is Jesse Williams?
The actor is known to Grey’s Anatomy fans as Jackson Avery, the wealthy son of esteemed urologist Catherine
Avery Fox and grandson of the (now-disgraced) Harper Avery, making him part of a surgical dynasty. Jackson has, like all of his colleagues, experienced highs and lows throughout his tenure at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, including marriage, divorce, the loss of a child, and much more.
Williams himself has experienced some of the same, though to a less dramatic extent. The former teacher became an actor/model in the mid-00s, and has appeared in films such as The Cabin in the Woods and The Butler. Williams has been a regular on Grey’s Anatomy since Season 7.
The actor is stepping behind the camera
Not one to shy away from trying new things, Williams has, like several of his Grey’s Anatomy cast members, taken a leap and tried his hand at directing episodes of the series. His first foray into directing came with the Season 14 episode “Fight for Your Mind,” which was also the third from the last episode of the season.
Williams went behind the camera again with the May 2, 2019 episode “What I Did For Love.” He said of the experience, “Once I knocked out my first one last year, I felt really comfortable during production and really loved the editing process, so I felt very very comfortable this time around.”
Here’s what he said about the upcoming episodes of Grey’s Anatomy
In Williams’ episode, we saw the climax of quite a few storylines converge. Among them is that of Maggie and Jackson, who have, after a few instances of “two steps forward, one step back,” have finally agreed on making a big move in their relationship, which seems like a positive thing. But Williams said something that made us pause.
“I think we’ve bred a new level of amendment and frustration and decision making for Jackson and Maggie,” he said. “It’s one thing to talk about moving in together and it’s another thing to do it, another thing to be trapped in close quarters with each other under stress. Without giving away too much, we’ll really get to see how that pressure could bust pipes.” Given that this is Grey’s Anatomy, those could be metaphorical or literal pipes.
We expect to see a lot in the final two episodes
In addition to Maggie and Jackson, there’s plenty more to be resolved in the final two episodes of Season 15. Meredith and DeLuca have entered “I love you territory,” which we expect isn’t going to be an easy thing for Meredith. Our titular character is also going to be learning about Jo Karev’s recent trauma, which could affect her relationship with Alex.
Then, of course, there’s the Amelia-Owen-Teddy love triangle, which looks like it’s back in action after Owen’s mysterious comments in therapy. Or is it? And the preview for the May 9 episode “Drawn to the Blood” looks like it will also bring about some hospital drama for Bailey, and possibly others.
