Jessica Simpson has undergone quite a transformation. The 39-year-old singer recently revealed that she’s shed 100 pounds since giving birth to her daughter Birdie Mae in March 2019. The mom of three celebrated her weight loss by sharing a photo of herself in a form-fitting black dress on Instagram, writing that she was “so proud to feel like myself again.”
People were wowed by Simpson’s weight loss
During her latest pregnancy, Simpson was open about her struggles, from dealing with acid reflux and bronchitis to coping with weight gain and bloating. She shared photos of her swollen ankles, pleading with her followers to share their tricks for relieving the condition and even admitted to breaking her toilet seat. So when she shared photos of her transformation, people were impressed.
“Gorgeous!!!!!” wrote Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.
“YAS KAWEEEEN you have and always will be my inspiration,” commented Nicoli “Snooki” Polizzi from Jersey Shore.
“You look amazing!!!,” wrote journalist Katie Couric.
Many commenters also wanted to know the secret to how Simpson slimmed down after her pregnancy.
“How you did it Jessica??” wondered one.
“WHATTTTT how in the world did you lose that so quickly. PLEASEEEEEEEE tell me,” begged another.
Simpson partnered with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak
Simpson went from 240 to 140 pounds in just six months, but she didn’t achieve that big weight loss all on her own. For help getting back to her pre-baby size, she turned to celebrity trainer and nutritionist Harley Pasternak, who’s also helped stars like Halle Berry and Lady Gaga get in shape.
Pasternak has been working with Simpson for more than a decade, and he celebrated his client’s most recent success on social media.
“Beyond proud of this incredible woman,” Pasternak wrote on Instagram. “Been working together for over 12 years and she’s always the most warm, sweet, polite, and respectful person in the world. And on top of it all, after being nonstop pregnant for as long as I can remember, she’s down 100 pounds and looks younger today than she was when we met.”
Simpson didn’t share exactly what specific steps she followed to lose the weight, but she did say that it wasn’t easy. “Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder,” she wrote.
Back in 2012, Pasternak shared how Simpson bounced back after the birth of her first child, Maxwell Drew. The former Newlyweds star followed a Weight Watchers diet as well as adhering to an exercise plan developed by Pasternak. After initially started with walking, Simpson gradually began to incorporate cardio and resistance training once she got the OK from her doctor.
“We kept the movements simple,” he wrote in an article for People. “No gymnastics. No Olympic-style lifting. Some days we focused on shoulders, the back of her thighs, and the front of her midsection. Other days we would target the back of her arms, inner thighs and the sides of her midsection. Most importantly, we made it fun!”
