Jill Duggar Seems Closer With Derick Dillard’s Mother Than With Michelle Duggar

We’ve been following the Duggars for years thanks to TLC shows like Counting On. While it was Jim Bob and Michelle who were originally in the spotlight for having 19 kids and ultra-strict fundamentalist Christian values, it’s their adult children who are taking over the small screen now. There are a few Duggars who are no longer regularly featured on TV, however — and one of them is Jill Duggar.

Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, were removed from Counting On due to Derick’s transphobic tweets of the past. But there have also been rumors that there’s a major rift between Jill and her siblings and parents. Not only that, but Jill has also been posting a lot about her mother-in-law, Cathy, leading us to believe she’s spending more time with Derick’s mother than her own.

Rumors claim Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar don’t get along with the other Duggars

When the Duggars were young, they appeared to be one big, happy family — but a lot has changed since then. Derick tweeting transphobic remarks against TLC co-star Jazz Jennings got him and Jill in a lot of trouble with the network. And there were also reports claiming Michelle didn’t appreciate the negative press it brought upon her family, either.

“Everything that Derick has said has caused the family bad press,” an insider told Radar Online. The insider then claimed that the Duggars decided to confront Derick since “they don’t like what he is doing” and they’re concerned with “what he says and how he says it.”

More recently, Derick took to Twitter to throw shade at Jim Bob, too. In mid-November 2019, Derick tweeted that TLC “begged” him and Jill to stay on the show and Jim Bob keeps all of his contracts and negotiations with TLC away from his adult children.

As Derick said on Twitter, “If money is all they care about, then it’s going to catch-up with them—you must care about ppl. All I’ve got to say is, they better lawyer-up b/c a storm is inevitable.”

Jill reportedly spent time with her mother-in-law for Thanksgiving

The Duggars are known for having huge holiday celebrations, but Jill and Derick didn’t attend Thanksgiving at the giant Duggar home in 2019. Instead, Jill posted to her Instagram that she had a “Friendsgiving” celebration at her house with a few close friends. And on her family blog, she noted she also spent some time with Derick’s mother, though this seemed to be on a separate day from her Friendsgiving.

Derick also subtly suggested that his mother was hanging out with him and Jill for the holidays. He posted photos to the ‘gram of their sons, Samuel and Israel, building gingerbread houses.

“While I was studying, Israel and Sam came in to show me their gingerbread houses they had made,” Derick captioned his post. “Sam had already chowed down on his before I could get a pic, so I think he may be holding the roof, a door, or one of the walls… thanks @cldilla ‘Mima’ for the fun (and tasty) gifts!”

Jill showed she’s getting in the holiday spirit with Derick’s mother

It looks like Cathy made yet another appearance online. Jill posted a photo of Samuel and Israel hanging out with her mother-in-law during a Christmas parade on Dec. 7.

“We all had so much fun last night at the annual Rogers Christmas Parade and Methodist Church chili dinner and food drive! Thanks @cldilla,” Jill captioned her post. The post included more photos of the parade, too.

While Michelle was nowhere to be found, fans seemed to enjoy that Jill and Derick were hanging out with Cathy.

“Good to see Derick’s Mom and the boys,” one fan commented.

Another wrote, “Mom looks great! So good to see her doing well.”

So, is this proof that Jill is becoming closer to Derick’s side of the family due to the drama over the years? We’re not sure — but it certainly looks like the famous Duggar daughter is choosing to spend time with Cathy over Michelle!
