Jill Duggar’s Followers Are Worried About Her Son’s Teeth in a New Instagram Post
We’ve been watching the Duggars for years thanks to TLC shows like 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. And while fan favorites like Jessa, Jinger, and Jana are all featured on Counting On presently, Jill Duggar is no longer seen on the show. Her and her husband, Derick Dillard, were removed from the program after Dillard tweeted homophobic and transphobic material. Even without the show, though, the couple’s still quite active on social media — and their followers are typically quick to judge them for what they post.
Recently, Jill added new photos of her two sons, Israel and Samuel. And fans have deep concerns over Israel’s teeth after seeing him smile. Here’s what they’re worried about.
The Duggars are all about dental hygiene
The Duggars are known for their many kids and strict household rules — and they’re also oddly known for being very into dental hygiene. In Touch Weekly reminds us that Michelle Duggar spoke about the importance of her kids getting dental work in the past. “Early on in our marriage, Jim Bob and I, we were discussing what was important at the top of the list financially speaking. … We’re going to make sure that we’re at the dentist for our check-ups and our cleaning appointments and all of that. And if they need braces and what-not, we’re going to do this,” Michelle mentioned on an episode of 19 Kids and Counting.
We know the importance of good teeth carried into Jill’s marriage, too. Derick Dillard notoriously had braces on for years, and it was even theorized that he got jaw surgery in the first place to appease Jill’s family. We’re not sure if that’s really the case, but even so, fans have definitely noticed Dillard’s dental situation and general face shape changing over the years.
Jill’s posted about giving her kids a toothbrush as a ‘reward’ before
Jill’s followers also can’t forget the time she posted a photo to her Instagram of her shopping with her sons — and she detailed how she was getting them a toothbrush and toothpaste as a “reward.” As Jill captioned her post, “Shopping with the boys for Israel’s new toothbrush and toothpaste reward he earned after he finished a school book.” And her followers took to the comments to express their frustrations.
“I bite my tongue a lot about the ridiculous things you post, but this is too much. A reward is a special treat, stickers, a small toy, a special outing. Children should not be ‘earning’ toothbrushes and toothpaste,” one of her followers commented. Another wrote, “Wait, what?! He had to EARN his basic daily hygiene products?!?” Yet another added, “Why on earth would you use basic hygiene stuff as an award? That’s something you teach a child to use everyday for the rest of his life.”
Jill’s latest post shows her son’s teeth, and fans are concerned
Jill recently posted some photos of her two sons after a fun day at the library. “One of those days where we needed a library playtime! Any of you other #moms out there identify? Too much energy for being home!” she captioned the post. And while the photo had nothing to do with her sons’ teeth, fans couldn’t help but comment on Israel’s smile.
“Oh my god what happened to Israels teeth,” a follower questioned. Another wrote, “My grandson who is 11 yrs old now fell & busted both of his front teeth when he was just a toddler, secondary teeth didn’t come in until couple years ago, I say just stay on top of dentist & take him into orthodontist for a check.”
Some followers defended Jill, however, and told other Instagram users to lay off the negative commentary. And others even attempted to comfort Jill by telling her that Israel’s baby teeth look totally normal. Either way, we’re sure Jill didn’t want the focus to be on her son’s teeth. And since both sons look healthy and happy, they appear to be doing just fine.
