Jill Duggar’s Husband, Derick Dillard, Just Got Slammed for a Hateful Twitter Post Once Again
Whether you love them or can’t stand them, there’s no doubt the Duggars have captured our attention for years. Not only are they known for their huge family of 19 kids, but when it comes to controversial Duggar family members, there are a few that crop up in the news cycles more than others.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are no longer a part of TLC’s Counting On due to Derick’s past hateful Twitter activity. Fans love Jill and still loyally follow her on social media — but it seems even she can’t escape the controversy her husband brings along. Recently, Derick seemingly still hasn’t learned to step away from the keyboard, as he’s stirred up trouble on social media yet again. Here’s why Duggar fans are furious.
Derick just alluded to Planned Parenthood being a ‘hate group’ on Twitter
It’s no secret the Duggars don’t believe in abortion or contraception. While many family members don’t speak about the controversial subject directly, a few others have — and they’ve faced public backlash because of it. CafeMom reminds us of the time Joy-Anna Duggar made her pro-life stance loud and clear on Instagram, and some family members have also been in attendance at pro-life rallies.
Most recently, Derick made his stance on abortion quite clear on Twitter, too. He reposted a photo from 4029news Twitter, which is based out of Northwest Arkansas. The photo was of a news story regarding 14 different hate groups in the Duggar’s home state — and Derick took it upon himself to add his own thoughts. “Why is Planned Parenthood not on here?” he questioned — and that’s all it took for his followers to unleash their backlash.
Duggar fans are furious that he’s still posting hateful tweets
The Twitter backlash was severe for Derick as soon as he posted the image, and many tried to educate him on what Planned Parenthood actually provides. As one user commented, “Because Planned Parenthood isn’t a hate group or an abortion clinic. It provides valuable services for women’s reproductive health including annual exams, pap smears, and cancer screening.” And others on Twitter were more riled up than others. Another user posted, “What programs do you suggest to help the mothers? You are just pro birth, you don’t give a s*** what happens to those kids afterwards.”
Still, some users were on Derick’s side after all, and they agreed that Planned Parenthood should, in fact, be on the list. “But their main business is abortion which is killing an innocent child,” another Twitter user added. “The Lord hates the shedding of innocent blood.”
This is far from the first time he’s caused outrage on the internet
It was Derick’s controversial Twitter rhetoric that got him dismissed from TLC’s Counting On in the first place, so it’s surprising to many that he’s still up to his old ways. In Touch Weekly reminds us Derick got himself into hot water after tweeting about 17-year-old transgender activist Jazz Jennings. After TLC promoted Jazz’s show, I Am Jazz, Derick tweeted, “What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality.” He also added, “‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.” Not only that, but he also took to the social media platform to call Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent from Nate & Jeremiah by Design a “travesty of a family.”
TLC had seen enough and promptly removed Jill and Derick from their show. Derick maintains he was never actually fired from the network — though all signs point to the opposite being true. Either way, it seems the dismissal hasn’t stopped him from taking to Twitter to share his uncensored thoughts — and we’re all wondering what the other Duggars think about his current post, too.
