Jill Duggar’s Husband Derick Dillard Just Told the Most Bizarre Lie
Every January, millions of people in the United States aim to improve their lives in one way or another through New Year’s Resolutions. And Derick Dillard, Jill Duggar’s husband, is no different. However, his recent New Year’s story ended up pulling readers into a bizarre lie. Here’s what Duggar said that has some fans confused.
Dillard started off a New Year’s blog post claiming he lost hundreds of pounds just a few years ago
Dillard published a blog post on January 1 that started with, “Some of you may not know this, but 7 years ago I weighed nearly 400 pounds.” The story was captivating at first, and Dillard said that it wasn’t until 2011 that he realized he needed to shed some serious weight in order to remain healthy the rest of his life. He told fans that he was determined to stay focused and said he woke up early each morning and worked out for four hours. He also added in that he jogged up to 19 miles.
The second paragraph of the story gets a little strange; Dillard details a very specific diet. He notes he only drank hand-squeezed orange juice and glacier water. He then surprised fans by saying he was able to lose 100 pounds in the first month. Dillard said he dropped 251 pounds within three months of creating this new lifestyle.
But later in the post, he took a twist and said the entire story was a lie
After the second paragraph, Dillard let fans know that everything they had just read was a lie. “If this story sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is,” he said. He then told readers that their goals need to be SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-sensitive), implying that trying to lose 250 pounds in three months is not a feasible goal. He also told fans to remember that nothing truly matters unless it is done for God. While Dillard may have meant well when he wrote the story, telling such a bizarre lie to readers wasn’t necessary to get his point across.
Dillard has been in hot water with fans in the past
This isn’t the first time Dillard has said something questionable. Back in 2017, he tweeted something negative about TLC star Jazz Jennings, which led many fans to lose respect for the Counting On star. He was reportedly fired from TLC for the comment, but Dillard insists he left on his own terms. Dillard also said something negative about other TLC stars Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, who are a same-sex couple.
People have questioned whether Jill Duggar is happy in her marriage
Jill Duggar has been married to Dillard since 2014. But fans have suspected things aren’t always smooth sailing for the couple. In the fall and early Winter, Dillard missed several Duggar family events that prompted fans to suspect the couple may be on rocky terms. However, the Duggars believe that marriage is sacred, so it doesn’t look like they would get divorced any time soon. Regardless of whether they are in a rough patch, it’s likely they’ll work through it and rebuild their marriage no matter what.
