Want to Watch Jim Carrey’s Showtime Series ‘Kidding’ for Free? Amazon Prime’s Offer Ends Soon
If you’re running out of content to watch while self-quarantining, you’re in luck. There’s still a short time left to get started on Jim Carrey‘s acclaimed series Kidding before a very good Prime Video offer comes to an end. Here’s what you need to know about the show and how to watch it right now.
Jim Carrey stars in ‘Kidding’
The series stars Carrey in his first starring TV role since his In Living Color days. The actor portrays Jeff Piccirillo, the star of the children’s show Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Time. A very Mister Rogers-esque character, Jeff begins to breakdown following a personal tragedy. The series also depicts how this affects his family, including his sister, puppet maker Didi, and his father, Sebastian, the show’s executive producer.
Season 1 first aired during the fall of 2018. It’s a star-studded cast, with Catherine Keener as Didi, Frank Langella as Sebastian, and Judy Greer as Jeff’s ex-wife Jill. There are also a number of surprising guest stars. Carrey serves as an executive producer on the series, which was nominated for two Golden Globes in 2019.
The second season of the series finished airing in March 2020
Given its reception, Showtime was quick to order a second season of Kidding. Season 2 was filmed in 2019, and was originally set to begin airing later that year, a little over a year after the series premiere. However, it was then pushed back until early 2020.
Kidding Season 2 premiered on Feb. 3, 2020. Two episodes aired each week, with the final pair airing on March 8, 2020. There were many more cameos, including singer Ariana Grande, who plays Piccola Grande, the Pickle Fairy of Hope, in the fifth episode.
Amazon’s Prime Video is offering a deal
Shortly before the second season came to an end, a quiet announcement was made. For those with Amazon Prime memberships, the first season of a handful of shows was made available. Included on that list is the PBS Masterpiece series Jamestown, the Starz program Black Sails, and, of course, Kidding Season 1.
However, this offer is only for a limited time. It expires on March 31, 2020. So if you want to watch all ten episodes of Kidding Season 1, now is the time to get started. Every episode is approximately 30 minutes, so you should be able to finish in about five hours. Given how many of us are self-quarantining, this is the perfect time for a binge.
Will there be a ‘Kidding’ Season 3?
Once you get through the first season, you’ll want to move on to the second season. Showtime is, like many other services, offering a free trial right now. But it likely won’t take long to binge Kidding Season 2. So soon you may find yourself asking: What about season 3?
Unlike with season 2, Showtime didn’t automatically jump to renew Kidding for a third season. Right now is a pretty precarious time to be renewing series, and given that productions aren’t going on, we have a feeling it will be a while before we hear what’s next for Kidding.
