Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo Barely Wrote About Their Daughter for Her Birthday

Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo are two of the most popular Duggars on the internet. Jinger is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child, and fans are heavily invested in their 2-year-old daughter, Felicity.

While Jinger and Jeremy frequently post updates on Felicity, like what she’s wearing, what she’s interested in, and how they’re choosing to parent her, it seems they barely posted anything on social media about the little girl’s birthday.

Felicity is the apple of Jinger and Jeremy’s eye. While Jinger grew up with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s ultra-strict rules to follow, she seems to be laxer with how she’s choosing to parent her kids. Jinger and Jeremy allow Felicity to consume some modern media, listen to music, and dance. And they’ve even indicated that Felicity will be able to be whatever she wants when she grows up without the expectation that she should aim to marry and serve her future husband.

It seems Jinger compares Felicity to other little girls, though. “I definitely compare Felicity to other kids her age,” the mom explained to the Counting On cameras.

“I think most parents probably do that,” she added. “You see another kid over there who’s crawling and maybe your baby isn’t crawling yet, or they’re not rolling over, and you can get kind of scared. But also, at the same time, you can’t compare too much because every kid is different.”

Jinger and Jeremy didn’t make a big fuss on social media about Felicity’s birthday

While Jinger and Jeremy are constantly giving followers updates on how Felicity is doing, they didn’t post too much for the little girl’s birthday.

“Happy birthday to this little darling girl,” Jinger captioned a post of Felicity on July 19. And prior to this post, she added another Instagram post of Felicity reminding her followers the little girl will be turning 2. “In just a few days, Felicity will be turning 2 years old,” Jinger wrote. “I cannot believe how quickly she has grown…and she is already wearing my shoes.”

As for Jeremy, he posted a brief birthday message for Felicity as well. “This little nugget is two years old. She’s the best. Happy birthday, Lissy!” he wrote.

The Duggar family Instagram, which is seemingly run by Jim Bob and Michelle, wrote more for Felicity’s birthday than Jinger and Jeremy combined.

“Happy 2nd birthday to this little cutie!!” Jim Bob and Michelle wrote. “Felicity’s name means ‘Happiness’ and she sure does live up to it! We really wish we could be with you today sweet girl, but FaceTime calls will have to do for now! Happy birthday to you!!”

Duggar family critics are surprised

I’m excited! Yet, the overwhelming feelings of joy and anticipation that I’m feeling today are a sharp reminder of the overwhelming feelings of sadness and loss I felt last November. On a Monday evening, Jer and I were rejoicing with our families as we announced that I was pregnant. Yet, in God’s perfect timing, it was the next morning that I awoke knowing something wasn’t right. Within moments I knew that I’d lost the baby. Tears filled my eyes, sadness cloaked my soul. Having just lost my grandmother months before, the news of new life was like spring lilies blossoming after a dark, cold winter. And in a moment, that life was gone. I know many of you can relate. The minutes feel like hours, the hours like days, don’t they? I was helpless—nothing I could do would restore the lost life. Yet, I was never hopeless. In those moments, I did the only thing I could. I rehearsed the timeless truths upon which I’ve anchored my soul—the truth that God is sovereign and he is good. The truth that Job recited, thousands of years ago, in his agony: “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” The pain doesn’t leave quickly. It’s not meant to. But in the midst of pain, the hope we hold is in God who works “all things together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose” (Rom 8:28). Dear friends, the reality is, at times we are helpless. But never, and I mean never, do we have to be hopeless.

Considering how much Jinger and Jeremy post about their lives, Duggar family critics are surprised by the brief birthday messages they each wrote for Felicity.

“This is the most generic, impersonal post I may have ever seen,” a Reddit user noted regarding Jeremy’s post. “It’s basically the equivalent of writing ‘best wishes’ in someone’s yearbook. Especially from someone who tries to wax poetic about the most inane stuff.”

“Jinger’s post was similarly generic. Interesting,” another added. “At times it seems like they’re not as emotionally attached to her as you’d expect them to be but I hope for Felicity’s sake that that’s not true.”

“I find the lack of the word ‘love’ in both of their posts odd as well,” yet another commented. “[Jinger] proclaims her love for coffee pretty much on a daily basis, but can’t be bothered to drop the L bomb on her daughter’s birthday?”

We’re not sure what Jinger and Jeremy were aiming for with these posts, but it’s clear their critics aren’t impressed. Perhaps they’ll try again with something else next time.
