Jinger Duggar’s Husband, Jeremy Vuolo, Was Once Arrested — Here’s Why
There are few families — especially ones on reality TV — more wholesome than the Duggars. From their strict rules (like no kissing before marriage) to their dedication to remaining modest through their clothing, we know the Duggar clan are committed to a life of as little sin as possible. And once one of the family members is in a courtship, everyone expects the person courting the Duggar child to be just as wholesome.
Jinger Duggar has been a fan favorite for years, as fans adore her fun personality and her willingness to go against the traditional grain. She also seems wildly in love with her husband, Jeremy — though it seems he may not have as pure of a past. It turns out he was arrested once, and here’s why.
Jeremy met Jinger thanks to her sister, Jessa, and Jessa’s husband, Ben
Without older sister Jessa, Jinger may have never met the love of her life. People reports Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald, first met Jeremy Vuolo in San Antonio while meeting up with the other Duggars for family vacation. And when the couple found they had a few hours to kill, they decided to attend a church gathering of a friend to hang out. The friend’s home happened to be Jeremy’s — and it’s all history from there. Jeremy and Ben hit it off immediately and quickly became great friends.
Jessa was the first one to consider Jeremy as the right fit for Jinger, however. As she noted to Jeremy, “I remember what you were wearing that night because Jinger told me that she loved this certain kind of sweater and then you were wearing that sweater. And so I thought Oh, Jinger would really like this guy’s style.” Clearly, Jinger liked more than just Jeremy’s style, as the two quickly entered a courtship and fell in love after meeting. “I never thought y’all would end up together. It was hilarious,” Jessa added.
He was allegedly arrested back in 2008 for harassing a police officer
Many of the men the Duggar women court have squeaky-clean pasts — but such isn’t necessarily the case for Jeremy. Before he was heavily involved in church activity, Radar Online notes Jeremy wasn’t afraid to go out and party. And it seems one night in 2008 got a little too intense, as police were involved.
The publication notes a police report stated Jeremy was arrested on Jan. 16, 2008, for “harassment against a police officer.” The report stated, “An intoxicated male who appeared to be a friend of the male that was involved was acting belligerent and shouting obscenities while in front of numerous subjects.” Jeremy then reportedly grabbed the police officer’s arm and then was subsequently arrested. As he wrote in response, “I was part of the college party scene and was living foolishly. I’m not perfect, but I sought out accountability and I now see great victory in my life.”
Today, he’s totally changed his ways
Jeremy may have had his wild party days, but he’s definitely made some serious changes since then. And considering how Jim Bob Duggar has to approve of all courtships before they can occur, it seems he saw all the goodness Jeremy had to offer Jinger, too. Jeremy has been candid with his fans about his past on his and Jinger’s personal blog, though. “Although I am very grateful for how much the Lord’s mercy spared me from during that time, I was part of the college party scene and was not living wisely. I began sliding down the slippery, destructive slopes of lust, selfishness, and pride,” he wrote.
Jeremy then went on to explain that Christ saved him, and he fought back against his sinful ways. Then, once he became a professional soccer player, he knew he was called to do greater things — and that’s when he began his path to become a preacher and a pastor. Now, he serves as an ordained pastor and seems to be happier than ever with Jinger.
