Chip Gaines reacts to Joanna’s Instagram post

Joanna and Chip are a massive hit in the lifestyle world due to their amazing home renovations. The Fixer Upper stars have made a big dent in the industry for themselves and people adore them. Part of their charisma comes from their relationship, which fans get to see on a more intimate level on social media. Both of them share aspects of their lives on Instagram which allows their viewers a closer look at the Gaineses off-camera.

On Father’s Day, Joanna shared what a great father Chip is when she snapped a photo of their daughter braiding his hair as he was watching a sports game.

“You’re the best kind of dad,” Joanna captioned the photo. “The kind that lets his daughter’s french braid his hair right before you take them shopping (even if the College World Series is on). We sure love you Chip Gaines.”

It wasn’t long before Chip saw the post and replied by adding, “This is the way I want it to be when I go meet Jesus.. and by the way, I’m looking here it might be fairly soon.”

Chip and Joanna’s first date was a mess

The stars of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home have five kids together — Drake, Ella Rose, Duke, Emmie Kay, and Crew. Chip and Joanna have grown their family but back when it all started, things were a little messy. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey for the show Super Soul, the couple recalled their first date and it was seemingly not the most magical of encounters.

“On our first date, Chip was just talking, and talking, and talking,” Joanna recalled. “I sat there and kind of went away like this isn’t going to last. This is one I’ve heard God’s voice more than ever. I heard him say, ‘This is the man you’re going to marry,’ and I’m arguing with God and said, ‘No it’s not. This is the man you’re gonna marry, no, he talks a lot, God.’ Chip is still going, he doesn’t even know I’ve left the conversation. Now I’m like arguing with God.”

Joanna also recalled that on the first date, she was almost ready to call it quits due to Chip’s tardiness. Despite the builder showing up late, the interior designer ended up going out with Chip.

Chip owes Joanna his life

As both of the reality TV stars recalled how they met, Chip reflected on how he was when he was younger. He said he was “such an idiot” as well was “excitable” when he first met Joanna. However, the couple started seeing each other, Joanna grounded him and that’s why he feels indebted to her.

“Joe has just kind of grounded me. When I die or I’m on my deathbed, what I’ll say looking back is that ‘I owe you my life because you settled me down,’” he said on Super Soul.

Chip and Joanna have made it work and are seen as one of the most stable marriages on TV inspiring people around the world.
