Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Daughter’s Name Has a Tiny ‘Game of Thrones’ Connection
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner quickly became one of the internet’s favorite celebrity couples. Between hilarious Instagram stories and Turner’s appearances in a couple of Jonas Brothers music videos, the two seem perfectly made for one another. Now, they welcomed their first child together, and her name might have a slight connection to Game of Thrones. If anything, it’s a name Sansa Stark would love the meaning of.
Sophie Turner gave birth last Wednesday to a baby girl
According to TMZ, Turner gave birth on Wednesday, July 22, in Los Angeles.
“Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby,” their rep released in a statement, according to Just Jared.
TMZ also reported that the two were spotted in LA a week before, which is also where they were in May when the first pictures of Turner’s baby bump surfaced.
Entertainment Tonight also shared more insight into Turner and Jonas’ well-being, via a source.
“Joe and Sophie welcomed a baby girl last Wednesday in LA and are over the moon,” they said. “The couple is already obsessed and can’t stop gloating about their new addition. The couple is taking time to enjoy this special moment and have only shared the news and updates with family and friends. With the pandemic Joe and Sophie have been very cautious about who is around them and their little girl.”
Jonas and Turner’s daughter’s name would fit right in with Sansa Stark’s world
TMZ shared that the baby’s name is Willa, which is a feminine form of “Will” according to BabyNames.com.
Besides sounding nice, Parents.com also shared some more meaningful meanings for “Willa.” They report that it means “resolute” or “protector.” This sounds like a strong name, and also fits in with Turner’s former character Sansa’s personality. And surely with Turner’s as well.
Even more interesting, though, is that the woman who Ned Stark said was Jon Snow’s mother was named Wylla. It’s pronounced differently and didn’t actually end up being Jon’s mother, but it’s still close. Until Turner and Jonas share the reasoning behind the name (if they do), purposeful Game of Thrones connections are just theories, of course.
Getting married and being a mother wasn’t a part of Turner’s original life-plan
“I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life,” she told the publication on March 26, 2019. “I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know…”
Turner then shared that she’s “met enough” guys and girls to know what she wants, and feels like she’s closer to 28 than her 22 years of age at the time: “I feel like I’ve lived enough life to know.”
