John Krasinski Shares the Secret of His Marriage to Emily Blunt and It’s So Sweet
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are total couple goals and now the actor is cluing the rest of the world into the secret of their marriage’s success. It doesn’t hurt that he was a big fan of hers before they even got together.
Krasinski dishes on their successful relationship
With two very busy, very successful working actors with projects that often have them going in different directions, there have to be some challenges for Krasinski and Blunt.
In an interview with E! News at the season two premiere of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Krasinski shared how the two manage the work-life balance with two daughters — and it turns out it all comes quite easily to the couple.
Krasinski shared: “I gotta say it just sort of happens organically. It’s one of those things where I was a huge fan of hers before I even met her, so I continue to be a huge fan of hers in everything she does. So we’re just extremely supportive, we get what the job is and that you gotta travel and do some stuff, but it’s always about coming back home and being together, it’s the most important thing. “
Krasinski made the long-distance situation work for them when she was filming Mary Poppins Returns in London and he was filming Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan in Canada in 2018. The actor would fly to see her every weekend from Montreal and back again to continue his filming. He told People: “Family for me, it’s a non-negotiable thing. So if I’m honest, I was shooting 6,000 miles away from them, and I flew back every single weekend.”
Was it love at first sight for the couple?
Krasinski and Blunt have both shared the details of how their relationship kicked off, when he was out to dinner with actor Justin Theroux and Blunt ran into them and they were introduced through a mutual friend. Their meet-cute is the stuff of rom-coms.
Krasinski shared during an interview on The Ellen Show: “It’s one of those things where I wasn’t really looking for a relationship… then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, ‘Oh god, I think I’m going to fall in love with her.’ And as I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you.’”
He continued: “So if anyone’s looking for how to pick up a girl, that’s the way you do it. You don’t need any pick-up lines; just be weird. I guess she was charmed by my totally being an imbecile.”
Blunt shared her take on the meeting when she sat down for a chat with Seth Meyers, noting: “It’s just kind of lame. I was in a restaurant. He was in the restaurant. I was sitting with a mutual friend. This is our romantic comedy.”
She added, “Guys, it’s golden, it’s cinema gold… He abandoned Justin and came over to talk to us. He did not eat. He just stood there and made me laugh.”
