The Big Bang Theory: What’s Next for Johnny Galecki, and What Does He Think of the Show Ending?

You might not think The Big Bang Theory is funny, or you might not like sitcoms at all, but either way, you have to admit the show is a success. Aside from the future-predicting The Simpsons and South Park, few half-hour comedies lasted longer. The show started in 2007, but Season 12 is the last season of The Big Bang Theory. Like the rest of his castmates, Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter on the show, is moving on, and it’s a bittersweet ending. Here’s what the actor has to say about the show ending, and what’s next for Johnny Galecki after The Big Bang Theory.

Why is The Big Bang Theory ending?

Before we discuss what’s on the docket for Johnny Galecki after The Big Bang Theory, let’s talk about why it’s ending. Inertia has nothing to do with it.

The Big Bang Theory is still one of the most popular shows on TV, but after 12 years, some of the stars wanted to expand their horizons.

Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon, decided it was time to quit the show, not because he didn’t enjoy it, but because he felt the show “chewed all the meat” off the bone. He wasn’t the only cast member ready to try something new. Simon Helberg, who plays Howard Wolowitz, also has a new show in the works.

What did Johnny Galecki say about the show ending?

Galecki spent 12 years working alongside the same actors and crew members for months at a time on The Big Bang Theory, and it will be difficult to leave that behind. Co-star Kaley Cuoco admits she won’t be able to keep it together on the last day, and Galecki feels the same way.

He said he’s expecting plenty of bittersweet tears, and that’s because the cast and crew are so tight.

“We’re a true family there, absolutely,” Galecki tells People. “It’s just been such a bonding experience for all of us. I’m not counting it [down] like a prison term, I’m not counting down because I’m looking forward to it whatsoever — I want to appreciate every day with everybody there that we have left.”

We know Cuoco and Helberg have new TV shows lined up in the future. Parsons figures to show up in Young Sheldon, which is a spinoff from The Big Bang Theory. As for Johnny Galecki after The Big Bang Theory, he’s returning to his roots, so to speak. He’s going to be more of a regular on The Conners, according to E! News Online.

What is Johnny Galecki’s net worth?

We’re guessing that showing up to work with great co-stars isn’t the only thing Galecki will miss about The Big Bang Theory. He is one of the highest-paid actors on the show, and also one of the richest cast members.

Thanks in large part to The Big Bang Theory, Johnny Galecki’s net worth is $50 million, and it will only keep growing. He and the rest of his castmates could earn millions of dollars every year from syndication. They might make more from the reruns than they did at the show’s peak.
