Jon and Kate Gosselin’s Most Dramatic Moments of 2018
We’ve been watching Jon and Kate Gosselin for years thanks to their time on TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8. When the show first started, fans loved watching how the duo navigated life taking care of their young sets of twins and sextuplets — and both Jon and Kate appeared totally down-to-earth and likable. By 2009, everything the couple built together had unraveled in the wake of their divorce, however. And Jon and Kate have now been feuding for about a decade while the whole world watches on.
2018 had plenty of dramatic Jon and Kate news stories we’ll never forget. Here are the year’s most dramatic moments for the ex-couple.
Kate sued Jon for over $130,000
Kate and Jon were unsurprisingly feuding 10 years ago — and they proved they’re far from finished with their battles in court in 2018. Back in April, Kate was reportedly coming after Jon for a sum of around $130,000. Jon clearly didn’t have the money at the time, either, as he’s made his financial struggles apparent in the past. Even so, Kate was willing to take Jon to court for the cash.
So, why was Kate suing Jon? The motive is unclear, though many assumed it had something to do with unpaid child support, as Jon has stated in the past that he doesn’t pay Kate anything for the kids. Their custody agreement over the children might’ve also been breached, leading Kate to go for Jon’s wallet. We’re not totally sure how this feud ended, but it made things pretty clear that their long-lasting battle against each other was far from over.
Hannah Gosselin moved in with Jon
After Jon and Kate’s divorce, Kate reportedly won full custody of all eight kids — but in 2018, one of the sextuplets decided to leave Kate’s abode and live with Jon instead. Radar Online reported back in August that Jon said his 14-year-old daughter, Hannah, was living with him full-time.
There was a lot of drama surrounding Hannah’s decision to live with Jon, too. The publication reminds us cops were even called at one point when Hannah decided she no longer wanted to live with Kate. Today, it appears Hannah is still happily living with Jon while the majority of her siblings are still with Kate.
Jon got full custody of Collin
There’s one other member of the Gosselin family who’s now residing with Jon — and that’s Collin. In December 2018, E! News reports Jon was awarded temporary sole legal and physical custody of Collin, the “troubled” member of the Gosselin family who was sent to a facility to help him cope with his “special needs.” While Jon was ready to go to bat for Collin, Kate never even showed up in court. This made attaining custody over Collin that much easier.
According to Jon’s Instagram, it seems Collin and Hannah are thriving in his home. And he even spilled the tea on Collin’s alleged “special needs.” According to Jon, his son does not have any special needs at all.
Kate’s dating show, Kate Plus Date, was announced
This wasn’t a dramatic moment between Jon and Kate, but it certainly shocked fans. People reported in April that Kate was going to be participating in a new series about her love life titled Kate Plus Date. In regards to the series, Kate told the publication, “But it was very apparent, now that they’re older and talking about dating and how they’re all gonna get married someday … it became apparent: they want someone for me. They want me to have somebody in my life.” She also noted that traditional dating didn’t feel like much of an option for her anymore due to her fame. “No, this is probably the safest way for me to date, let’s be honest,” she added.
