Josh Gad Says ‘Frozen 2’ Songs Are ‘Even Catchier’ Than the Original Soundtrack

Fans can’t seem to let this movie go. Disney’s Frozen premiered in 2013, and over five years later, the company will premiere the movie’s sequel. Even with iconic songs like ‘For the First Time in Forever,” “Love is an Open Door,” and “Let It Go,” cast member Josh Gad says some songs from Frozen 2 are “even catchier” than the original soundtrack. Josh Gad said the ‘Frozen 2’ soundtrack is ‘even catchier’ than the original

A few years passed since the premiere of Disney’s blockbuster Frozen. Now, Elsa, Anna, and Olaf are back with another chapter to their story, thanks to the film’s sequel, entitled Frozen 2.

The original cast returns to voice their respective characters. That includes Idina Menzel as the voice of Elsa, Kristen Bell as the voice of Anna, and Josh Gad as the voice of Olaf. During an interview, Josh Gad explained a little bit more about the new movie and its soundtrack.

“It’s done. Can I just say something outrageous? I’m not even sure if I’m allowed to say this, but can I just say I think the songs are even better in this movie. Now I’ve set the bar so high, but they are so good. Bobby Lopez and Kristin Lopez, who wrote the original, they came back and did songs that are just [phenomenal]. That’s the big concern. How do you top those [Frozen] songs? They’re even catchier, I’m sorry to say,” Josh Gad said, according to Cinema Blend.

The original soundtrack won multiple awards, including a Grammy

Even with Frozen 2 around the corner, fans and critics can’t seem to let the original soundtrack go. Since its premiere, the Frozen soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media. “Let It Go” won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Frozen itself won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

This sequel will not be the first time Disney added songs under the Frozen umbrella. For the Broadway production of the musical, there are new songs like “Monster,” sung by Queen Elsa. It’s unclear whether Frozen 2 will include songs from the original movie.

When does ‘Frozen 2’ come out?

Even though Disney released its official trailer and teaser trailer for Frozen 2, not much has been revealed regarding the film’s plot. Some fans speculate there will be new characters with different seasonal powers, as teased by the movie’s poster.

Some fans believe this movie will reveal more about Elsa’s ice powers, as the trailer caption reads, “why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom.” Needless to say, Disney fans are excited about the upcoming movie.

“Six years later, I still love Frozen. It changed my life forever. It’s why I left the military. Why I’ve been studying and pursuing animation for four years now. I am ready for Frozen 2,” said one Twitter user.

Disney’s sequel to Frozen, entitled Frozen 2, premieres in the United States on November 22, 2019.
