Kaitlynn Carter Just Penned the Most Emotional Essay About Miley Cyrus
Kaitlynn Carter and Miley Cyrus might’ve only dated for a few weeks, but the reality star insists that it was more than a “summer fling.”
The two were romantically-linked in August after they were seen kissing on an Italian getaway following their respective breakups — Cyrus from Liam Hemsworth, and Carter from Brody Jenner. But they split about a month later.
Now, Carter is opening up about their lightning-quick romance, saying in an emotional essay that she really was in love with the “Wrecking Ball” singer.
A quick recap of Carter and Cyrus’ relationship
Carter and Cyrus sparked romance rumors on Aug. 10 after they were seen kissing in Italy. The same day, Cyrus’ representative confirmed that the singer had separated from Hemsworth, whom she married in December of 2018 following a nearly 10-year relationship. Carter, on the other hand, had split from Jenner weeks earlier.
Though it initially seemed like a rebound romance, things quickly became serious. They reportedly moved in together, and Carter even met Cyrus’ mother, Tish. But they broke up a month later. A source told People on Sept. 22:
“Miley doesn’t want a serious relationship. She and Kaitlynn spent every day together and it just wasn’t anything that Miley wanted to continue doing. She wants to focus on her career.”
Carter’s essay about Cyrus reveals her feelings
In the essay, published to Elle on Nov. 4, Carter opened up about her romance with Cyrus and how easily it unfolded, saying, “I didn’t have to think about a thing or overanalyze. It just happened and it felt exactly right.”
During their three-year friendship, Carter said that she had been “drawn” to the singer in a way that she hadn’t been with other friends but never thought about her “in a romantic sense” until their Italian vacation. Later, Carter said, she fell “hard” for Cyrus.
The “Slide Away” crooner has since moved on with Australian singer, Cody Simpson.” But Carter harbors no ill will toward her ex.
“I’ll remain eternally grateful to my most recent relationship for opening my eyes to this unexplored part of myself, and for inspiring a new level of self-discovery and wonder at all the possibilities of life,” Carter continued.
“I’ve been forced to get to know myself in a far deeper way than ever before, and not just in terms of my sexual preferences. I’ve also been forced to reckon with who I am as a person,” she added.
Do Carter and Cyrus still communicate?
Neither of them has commented on the status of their relationship. But on Nov. 5, news broke that Cyrus had unfollowed her ex on Instagram.
The move came shortly after a source told TMZ on Oct. 6 that Carter had concerns about Cyrus’ new relationship with Simpson.
We’d hate to see them fall out. But maybe some time apart is best.
