Golden Globes: How Many Nominations Does Kaley Cuoco Have?
Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson announced the 2021 Golden Globe Awards nominations on Feb. 3 on the Today show, and some unexpected nominees made the cut. Of course, critically-acclaimed shows such as The Crown, The Undoing, and Schitt’s Creek predictably ranked high in nominations. But HBO Max’s newcomer show The Flight Attendant also received some nominations. Read on to find out how many Golden Globe nominations Kaley Cuoco, star of The Flight Attendant, has.
What ‘The Flight Attendant’ is about
HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant is a murder mystery based on a book by Chris Bohjalian. The show centers around Cassie Bowden (Cuoco), a flirty flight attendant, who is tangled up in one of her passenger’s drama.
The two have a one-night stand, and she wakes up to find him murdered in the hotel bed next to her. Cassie must figure out who killed the passenger, Alex Sokolov (Michiel Huisman) while she’s simultaneously being framed for the crime herself.
Alongside dealing with a murder mystery, Cassie also battles her internal struggles such as unresolved family trauma and a drinking problem that worries her brother and friends.
Zosia Mamet, Rosie Perez, and T.R. Knight delightfully star in the show as well.
Kaley Cuoco was nominated for 2021 Golden Globe Awards
The Flight Attendant surprised some with its two nominations for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards. The show was nominated for Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy, along with Best Actress — Television Series Musical or Comedy for Cuoco herself.
The Big Bang Theory star recorded her reaction to her nomination in an Instagram video of the moment. Cuoco was even in pajamas in bed. After Parker announced her name on the telecast, Cuoco immediately gasped and put her head in her hands.
“Oh my god,” she cried in the clip. “I can’t believe it.” She also showed a video of her reaction to The Flight Attendant being nominated as a show, as well.
How many Golden Globe nominations does she have?
The two nominations that Cuoco received for The Flight Attendant are her first two nominations ever for the Golden Globes.
However, Cuoco is by no means lacking in the awards department. She has won a Critics’ Choice Television Award, Teen Choice Award, Satellite Award, and People’s Choice Award. Cuoco has won for her shows The Big Bang Theory and 8 Simple Rules.
As for season two of The Flight Attendant? Cuoco appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in December 2020. She discussed a possible second season of the show at the time.
“I hope so,” she said. “It was meant to be a limited series for sure, but we’d actually really like to do a season two.”
A few days after her WWHL appearance, HBO Max renewed The Flight Attendant for a season two. Cuoco expressed her joy in a statement to EW.
“The positive response to our show has surpassed all of our expectations and I’m so proud of the entire team behind its success,” she said.
“I’m thrilled to continue my partnership with Team Berlanti, Steve Yockey, HBO Max and of course my beloved studio, Warner Bros,” she continued. “We are committed to delivering diverse and quality entertainment, including an exciting (and probably a little crazy) [The Flight Attendant] season 2!”
The 78th Golden Globe Awards will air on Feb. 28.
