Though Corden is known for inviting celebrities to take a rides with him in his SUV as they sing and talk about their lives, the talk show host and the rapper took it up a notch by debuting a new version of the hit Late Late Show segment.
Corden and West introduced the first ever ‘Airpool Karaoke’
Just a few short days after West released his highly anticipated Jesus Is King album, the rapper joined Corden for a brand new episode of Carpool Karaoke.
The talk show host has been trying his hardest to travel around with West while singing some of the rapper’s biggest hits together and finally got the opportunity to do so.
Just like previous episodes, West and Corden sang and had a candid conversation, but in typical Ye fashion, they went above and beyond for this segment, literally.
On October 28, Corden debuted a brand new version of his hit Late Late Show segment called “Airpool Karaoke,” in which he and West boarded a private plane instead of the talk show host’s regular SUV.
The sketch starts out by showing Corden’s flight to Los Angeles getting cancelled and him hitting up West for a ride in his plane.
When the talk show host boards West’s plane, he is not only greeted by the rapper, but also his entire Sunday Service choir.
During the flight, they performed some of the rapper’s songs off of his newly released album as well as their own renditions of songs they sing during the weekly worship services.
This is the first time anything like this has ever been done on the show, and as one can easily guess, Airpool Karaoke did not disappoint in the slightest.
West gets candid about his personal life
In addition to the amazing performances, Corden and West take a few moments during the segment to talk about the rapper’s faith and his personal life.
After explaining how his belief in God helped him through his mental health struggles, West goes on to discuss his family life and his marriage.
While he couldn’t be happier being married to Kim Kardashian-West, the rapper took Corden by surprise when he mentioned feeling as though their marriage has been going on a lot longer than five years.
“Marriage years are different than human years,” he said. “Like you know how dog years are like seven years? Every marriage year is like 100 years,” West joked then added, ” it’s like 500 years.”
The rapper then goes on to explain that though his loved were there for him in his darkest moments, it wasn’t until he found God again that he decided to leave his previous lifestyle behind.
“People in my family were praying for me, but they couldn’t call me and scream at me. I’m a grown man,” West said. “But it was God that came and put this thing on my heart and asked if I was ready to be in service to him.”
Corden then asked West if he regrets any of his past experiences, which the rapper confidently answers, “I have no regret and no shame.”
The rapper admits that he’s living his dream
Following another performance from his exceptional choir, West continues to get candid with Corden.
The rapper goes on to recall the exact moment he knew and made it in the industry and hasn’t looked back since.
“I remember when Virgin mega store was still around, I was on an escalator and remember saying to myself, “breathe in this moment because this will be the last moment I can walk around in public,” he shared.
The segment ended with Corden, West, and the choir giving a lively performance of the rapper’s new song, “Selah”, before the plane lands.
