Kanye West, Roseanne Barr, and More Celebrities Who Are Still Defending Donald Trump

It’s no secret that Hollywood slants to the liberal side of the scale politically. Because of that, there are plenty of famous celebrities and actors who came out against Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign, and even have spoken out against him since. But, as much as it may not seem this way, there are also plenty of conservatives in Hollywood.

On top of that, there are others who have different reasons for continuing to defend and support Trump publicly. These reasons span from seeking change from the status quo, looking for an upper-class tax break, or simply front-running. Let’s look at 10 celebrities that are still defending Donald Trump.

1. Kanye West

It has been big news that rapper Kanye West has come out in full support of President Trump. When asked what West likes the most about the president, he says it’s Trump’s ability to do the impossible.

He has even produced lyrics about giving “Make America Great Again” a new direction. But there have been plenty of questions about West’s support of Trump, including whether it’s based in policy, culture, or simply to be viewed as a “free thinker.”

2. Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr has been one of Trump’s loudest and most ardent supporters — which is pretty surprising, given her own political history. Barr attempted to run for president herself in 2012, then as a member of the Green Party. That’s right, the Trump-supporting Roseanne actress was considered to be a progressive for quite a while.

So why is she rooting for Trump? Her support of Trump is based in the notion that traditional politics hasn’t worked, and she really digs his “drain the swamp” rhetoric. In addition, her character on Roseanne has been portrayed as a Trump supporter, something that has earned her favor with the president.

Roseanne has returned after more than 20 years off the air to bring a political and social commentary on Trump’s America.

One of Trump’s most famous supporters from the television genre is Tim Allen, most known for his hit 1990s show Home Improvement and the recently revived Last Man Standing. Allen once described being a conservative in Hollywood “like 1930s Germany,” and has also said that those who support Trump openly are bullied for doing so.

He even suggested that his show as canceled on ABC because of his political affiliations. But Allen, who was frequently vocal in his disapproval of former President Obama, recently had this to say about those who are critical of Trump.

“It’s kind of like being on an airplane,” he said. “You don’t like the pilot so you want to bang on the cockpit door and rip him out of the seat. But all of us are on this airplane. Let him fly the plane and try to land it, at least.”

Scott Baio is another celebrity that has stood by the president through the good and the bad. The former Happy Days star hasn’t had a whole lot of credits to his name in Hollywood the last few years, but no matter. Baio doesn’t care if his support of Trump negatively impacts his career.

“I don’t give a s—t about Hollywood liberals. They’re gonna hate the guy no matter what,” said Baio. “If he cured cancer, they’d be on him for putting oncologists out of business.”

Most remember Johnny Damon from his career playing baseball, most notably with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. And although he has mostly disappeared from the spotlight since retiring from the game in 2012, he has reappeared from time to time to voice his support for President Trump.

That includes as recently as May 2018, when Damon spoke with Fox News on the subject. “I think Donald’s doing a great job of trying to bring everything to the table, just work at something instead of wasting people’s time,” Damon said.

Damon has previously professed his love for Trump, citing that Trump likes winners and wants everything to be great.

Stacey Dash, probably best known as a supporting actress in the ’90s comedy Clueless, found her way to a role at Fox News, thanks to her outspoken nature and willingness to support Trump. She stood by him through the release of the Access Hollywood audio, citing Trump’s words as “just talk.”

Briefly, Dash was hoping to run for political office in California, and was hoping to get Trump’s support in return. But since then, she has withdrawn from the race.

Former boxing star and controversial pop culture icon Mike Tyson has long had a very strange relationship with Donald Trump. They’ve known each other for years, but their interactions have ranged from a “father-son type relationship” to Tyson angrily (and publicly) accusing Trump of having slept with his wife.

Tyson also claims that Trump once promised him a pardon. While many details of their relationship are murky, the fact that Tyson has openly supported and defended the president is very clear.

This slightly-lesser known brother of Alec Baldwin is a major supporter of Trump. Stephen Baldwin has been outspoken about loving Trump, even though his older brother has frequently done an impersonation of the president on Saturday Night Live. An impression, by the way, the Stephen doesn’t really care for.

Although the brothers haven’t spoken since the election, Stephen predicts that Alec will vote for Trump in 2020 when he sees how much he’ll save in taxes.

Former NFL player and head coach Mike Ditka has always been known for his brash tendencies and outspoken personality. So much so, that some have even pondered whether Ditka and Trump are actually the same person.

Ditka has been outspoken in his Trump support, before and after the election. But nothing wraps up their parallel thinking better than Ditka’s comments on players kneeling during the national anthem. “All of a sudden, it’s become a big deal now, about oppression,” Ditka said. “There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of.”

The singer and rapper from Detroit has been a huge supporter of Trump, even going to the White House shortly after Trump’s inauguration and taking pictures with the president. These days, Kid Rock is more focused on his own musical (and political) career.

Rock, also known as Robert Ritchie, has a somewhat head-scratching campaign for United States Senate going on right now. That includes a website selling t-shirts and hats, and such fun slogans as “Pimp the Nation” and “Born Free.”

Of course, there are some who say he’s not actually running for president. That includes Kid Rock, himself: “F— no, I’m not running for Senate … Are you f—ing kidding me? Who couldn’t figure that out? … I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour, too.”
